their neighborhoods. Laptop computers were used to record confidential interview responses. The goal was to collect accurate

My role as a literacy tutor was to help carry out LVRC’s mission of providing free and confidential instruction in Combined
Basic Literacy/English as a Second Language at a local library. This is achieved primarily by assisting adults in reading,
writing, speaking and listening, and guiding students to supplementary materials and resources to help improve their literacy.
Taught an ESL student with no computer experience how to create an e-mail account, use Microsoft programs and navigate
through the internet. This program serves not only as a basis for vocational training, but as a way to facilitate mundane tasks
that require following basic directions, money management skills, healthcare issues and other issues that involve everyday
living.
Food and Clothing Drive Organizer 11/2006

Organized a food and clothing drive during the holiday season. Reached out to members of the college community and the
wider public to donate non-perishables and gently used clothing and toys. All items were sent to a local food pantry that
