Plant Environmental Health and Safety Engineer (2001 - 2012)
Responsible for managing a 250,000 sq. ft. facility including production
area, laboratory, and offices, as well as capital projects, grounds and
janitorial maintenance, contractors, repairs and equipment maintenance
through proactive troubleshooting and preventive maintenance programs.
Established safety training and safety standards, performed monthly safety
audits / reports and provided direction to supervisors to ensure safety.
. Worked with regulatory agencies including -
- Indianapolis Power and Light (IPL) to report monthly gas usage
and any variances.
- White River Environmental Partnership to maintain clean water
and sewer standards, pre-treat waste and ensure EPA compliance
standards.
- Developed positive working relationships with all regulators
including fire departments, sewer enforcement officers, and air
emission staff and ensured compliance with DHEC.
. Earned recognition from outside consulting firm and insurance
department for implementing aggressive safety measures that
significantly reduced Workers Compensation costs.

staff).

Responsible for the Maintenance Department and staff as well as analysis of
process requirements, daily construction management, and served as general
contractor for the facility.
. Earned an Award for an off-site waste disposal project that saved
significant costs.
Maintenance Supervisor / Maintenance Mechanic (1980 - 1989) (1977 - 1980)
Responsible for maintenance and construction for all Flavor USA location
(NJ, MO, CA, FL, and IN). Supervised eight maintenance employees and two
clerks. Started the first-ever Preventative Maintenance Program and
developed the first Parts Department.
. Managed the second half of completion of the Indianapolis facility
including all electrical, plumbing, finished construction work,
carpeting, floor tile, and replacement of over 100,000 sq. ft. of
roofing.
. Maintained repairs on forklifts and performed general maintenance.
