internet-based Order Entry Systems and iSeries based back-end

Contracting as a Sr. Advanced Software Engineer for a
Manufacturing company located in Cranston, RI. Responsibilities
include project design, detailed functional specifications and
documentation, programming, testing and implementation. Last
major initiative was an enhancement in the Advanced Order Entry
system to improve customer shipment consolidation. All work was
performed on an iSeries utilizing RPGIII, RPG/400 and RPGIV.

Through
Mar 2010 IS Consultant (May 2003 to Mar 2010)
Transitioned from management into an individual contributor
position. Involved in the creation of the Enterprise
Architecture environment for the iSeries utilizing RPG IV and
ILE. Also was the designer and Tech Lead for the CMSD project
which was an interface between the North American Order Entry
and Delivery systems and an external Open Systems package
(Sterling Commerce), as well as numerous other Transportation
department initiatives, all done in RPG IV and ILE.
IS Manager (Mar 2000 to Apr 2003)
Promoted to IS Manager in March of 2000. Was responsible for 5
senior level Programmer/Analysis's as well as 3 contract
programmers. Tasks included managing the day-to-day operations
of the Canadian Catalogue Order Entry and Delivery business,
project management, systems design and general support.
Principal Programmer/Analyst (Oct 1998 to Feb 2000)
Hired as a Principal Programmer/Analyst after consulting with
Staples for one and a half years. Responsible for Y2K
conversions, a major JDA software upgrade, as well as normal
design, programming, and support of the Canadian Catalogue Order
Entry and Delivery Business utilizing RPG/400.

Contracted as a Principal Programmer/Analyst for a retail
company's North American Order Entry and Catalog Division.
Responsibilities included design, analysis, coding, testing, and
implementation using RPG/400.
Contracted as a Senior Systems Analyst for a Marketing Database
Management company. Responsibilities included design,
programmer guidance, testing and implementation follow through.
Contracted as a Senior Programmer/Analyst for a manufacturing
company. Responsibilities included business analysis, detailed
specifications and programming in RPG/400. Analysis required
meetings with upper user management. Projects included
streamlining processes and programming efficiencies.

July 1992 Programming Manager (Oct 1985 to July 1992)
Managed a staff of 4 Programmer/Analysts. Assisted the MIS
Director in the day-to-day operations of the department. Acted
as the backup to the PC Specialist. In addition, maintained the
following systems: Order Entry, Inventory, Sales Analysis, MRP,
Production, Billing, and Accounts Receivable. Was also
personally responsible for the migration from a System/38 to an
AS/400 environment as well as migrating the programming staff
from RPG III to RPG/400.
Programmer/Analyst (Mar 1984 to Sept 1985)
Was hired as a Programmer/Analyst in March, 1984. Promoted to
Programming Manager in October, 1985. Supported approximately
30 PC's throughout the Company utilizing Lotus 1-2-3, dBASE
III+, Q&A, and PC Support. Wrote an Order Entry System,
replacing a manual system, which reduced order entry time from
hours to minutes. Worked with consultants for interfacing a PC
based Stock Control System with the S/38's Order Entry System.
All programming was done in RPG III

Rewrote manufacturing software based on the universal needs of
manufacturing companies in order to minimize system tailoring.
Improved screen designs, tested and debugged programs. Also
rewrote Payroll package to make it more universal.

Enhanced the retail Price Control Reporting system. Assisted in
the development of a multi-company project, to add Chadwicks of
Boston to the revised programs to accommodate this acquisition.
