Records Bureau Manager, 1996 to 2004
Lead department comprised of three units with both union and non-union employees.
Department was a support function for the Fort Wayne Police Department providing services
such as computer entry into the Indiana Data and Communication Systems (IDACS) and the
National Crime Information Center (NCIC) of missing persons, stolen guns, stolen vehicles and
other stolen property. Department personnel were also responsible for fingerprinting all arrested
persons and creating their arrest records and providing customer service to the public by selling
copies of accident reports and beginning the process of authorization to carry handguns.
Responsibilities and key results
Consolidated two separate job positions into one, thereby creating a new unified job description which
resulted in over $150,000 in annual savings for the department.
Strategically aligned the bureau’s short and long term objectives to coincide with the mission and vision
of the Police Department
Oversaw and managed departmental budget.
Evaluated performance and administered disciplinary actions for noncompliance.
Trained, supervised and evaluated staff of 42 union and non-union employees working under 4 different
job classifications.
Developed departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Authorized and monitored employee vacation, sick, personal and compensatory accrual and performed
staffing functions to ensure office was properly staffed 7 days a week/24 hours a day.
