Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) Graduation Date:

December 2007

University of Pune (India) G.P.A.: 3.0

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Electrical Engineer at Doosan Engineering and Services, New Jersey (Oct

2010- Sept 2013)

Designing of an Auxiliary Electric System (AES) for a 2x560MW conventional

coal fired plant:

. Review and comment on electrical sections of the engineering scope and

insure that "scope creep" is not impacting the cost limitations,

. Maintaining load list for input to various design programs,

calculations,

. Preparing Material Purchase Specifications, Sizing calculations and

Bill of Materials / Bill of Quantities for electrical equipments such

as Unit Auxiliary transformer, Startup Auxiliary transformers,

Emergency Diesel Generator, DC/UPS battery and charger, Medium and Low

Voltage Switchgear as per IEEE / IEC standards,

. Preparing Deviations and Clarifications,

. Bid evaluations for "Generator Step-up", "Unit Auxiliary" and "Startup

Auxiliary" transformers, as well as "Uninterruptible Power System" and

DC systems, Cables,

. Developing conceptual block diagrams, one and three line diagrams

(e.g. Fault Monitoring System, Phasing Diagram). Reviewing and

commenting on electrical drawings in comparison to the conformed

procurement specifications to insure compliance with the client's

requests,

. Completing System Studies such as power (load) flow, short circuit

with ETAP program.

Designing of an Auxiliary Electric System (AES) for a retrofit project

(Adding three 190MVA Steam Turbines on existing three 375MVA Gas Turbines:

. Maintaining load list for input to various design programs,

calculations,

. Preparing Bills of Materials, Bills of Quantities and Cable lists for

medium voltage and low voltage power and instrumentation cables

. Bid evaluation for Load Center Transformer

. Reviewing and commenting on electrical drawings in comparison to the

conformed procurement specifications to insure compliance with the

client's requests,

. Developing Control Cable Interconnection diagram from DCS I/O list and

vendor schematics

Preparing bid packages for several RFPs (5 coal fired and 1 oil fired,

ranging from 350MW to 1800MW):

. Reviewing contract for any unusual or contradicting requirements

. Preparing Deviations / Clarifications

. Sizing calculations, Preparing MPS and Bid Evaluations for various

electrical equipments

. Preparing electrical drawings

MSEE PROJECT EXPERIENCE:

Planning and impact study for a 1500 MVA transmission system:

A Planning and Impact study was accomplished on a 40 bus system with a

load forecast developed for a look ahead period of 9 years with a follow-

up N-1 contingency analysis while including the impact of a new generator

and a new spot load on the overall system complying with NERC guidelines.

Lightning and Switching Surges for Power System:

A Surge Arrester was selected to properly protect (provide a reasonable

margin) for a 138 kV transformer with a 550 kV BIL with the arrester on

the terminals of the transformer's HV bushings. Further, the surge

arrester was to be moved away from the terminals while attempting to

provide the same margin. The maximum distance that the surge arrester

could be moved and still comply with the original margin was to be

determined.

Designing a protection system for a sample power system:

It involved identifying zones of protection, one line diagram, selection

of CT / PT ratios and accuracy class. Transmission lines protection was

achieved with distance relays. Busbars, Transformer and Generator were

protected with percentage differential relays. Overcurrent relays were

used as backup for main protection. All relay settings were hand

calculated and coordinated in ASPEN.

Microprocessor Based Overcurrent Relay:

Designed and implemented a relay that monitors current flowing through a

line and trips when current goes beyond specified value.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

. Software : ETAP, PowerWorld, ASPEN, AutoCAD 2008, PSCAD/EMTP,

MATLAB, MS Office

. Languages : C, C++, Java, 8085, 8051 Assembly

. Web : HTML, JavaScript

. A course in computer hardware and networking

COMMUNITY WORK:

Volunteer Firefighter of Mahwah, NJ since December 2011.
