OBJECTIVE: To obtain a petroleum geologist position within an oil and gas company, which will

allow me to contribute my knowledge of black shale towards the achievement of my

employer’s goals, while enabling me to learn and grow within the company.

EDUCATION: SUNY at Buffalo

M.S. in Geology

Anticipated Graduation May 2014

GPA: 3.74

SUNY Fredonia

B.S. in Geology

Graduated May 2012

GPA: 3.33

Recipient of the Walther Barnard Scholarship

Deans List Spring 2011 and Spring 2012

St. Bonaventure University

B.A. Business Management

Graduated December 2005

INDUSTRY

EXPERIENCE: Seneca Resources, Pittsburgh, PA

Geology Exploration intern from May 2013 to August 2013.

Involved in a regional study of the Marcellus shale of the Appalachian basin as

part of the exploration team.

Primary objective to high-grade understanding of what controls distribution of

total organic carbon.

Achieved by using Elemental Capture Spectroscopy (ECS) data to reconstruct

the depositional conditions of the Marcellus shale, in order to identify areas of

high algal productivity and preservation.

Experience with interpreting well logs, including ECS data to identify trends in

reservoir quality.

Experience using GeoGraphix to find correlations among data.

AAPG Conference Houston, TX April 6-9th, 2014

• Anticipated oral presentation.

• Abstract title: Inorganic geochemistry of the Trenton Limestone-Utica Shale

contact based on XRF data.

RESEARCH: Thesis Topic:

Studying Utica black shale using a geochemical approach to reconstruct the

depositional conditions:

Developing chemostratigraphy using a variation of trace element geochemical

data to define stratigraphic zonation schemes.

Comparing Utica chemostratigraphy to Marcellus chemostratigraphy.

Recognizing changes in trace element concentrations at depth to make

correlations and model depositional conditions.

RESEARCH

CONTINUED:

Using knowledge of trace element signatures to recognize intervals of total

organic carbon, that can go undetected by traditional gamma-ray technology.

Studying pyrite framboids, by means of SEM, as a higher resolution way to

discover redox conditions within black shale.

Research aims to produce high-resolution stratigraphic zonation and to provide

means to meet precise lateral well-bore placement.

FIELD WORK:

Devonian Shale analysis

XRF analysis of a suite of shale samples collected from across the Frasnian–

Famennian mass extinction boundary; these samples will be analyzed for δ13C

values.

Investigation (via trace element abundances and carbon isotope signature) of

the possibility of gas hydrate dissociation as a means of enhancing Late

Devonian extinctions.

Analysis of the early diagenetic signature of anaerobic methane oxidation in the

Upper Devonian shale succession of western New York.

SKILLS:

Skilled in GeoGraphix software.

Experienced in using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).

Knowledge of the digital mapmaking program Arcmap.

Knowledge of X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) instrument to obtain geochemical

data.

OTHER WORK

EXPERIENCE:

2009- 2010 Biomet Microfixation, Buffalo/Rochester NY

Medical Sales

• 5th Nationally at 101.44% quota

• Ranked 2nd in Northeast Region at 120.95% Quota

Orthovita, Buffalo NY

Medical Sales

1/2008-8/2008 Inventiv Pharmaceuticals, Buffalo NY

Pharmaceutical Sales

• Ranked 19th out of 79 sales representatives for capturing market share and 21st

out of 79 for number of prescriptions written.
