knowledge as a Petroleum Engineer with a strong background in drilling engineering.
ACADEMIA
M.S., Petroleum Engineering, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, Socorro, NM
GPA: 3.7/4.0 Jan 2012.
B.S., Mechanical Engineering, Indian School of Mines, (ISM), Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India
GPA: 3.01/4.0 May 2009.
RELEVANT COURSES
Well Stimulation, Reservoir Uncertainty Management, Fluid Flow in Porous Media, Heat and
Mass Transfer in Reservoirs, Advanced Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering, Drilling
Engineering, Formation Evaluation, Petroleum Geology.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Drilling Engineer
R.K. Ford & Associates, Midland, TX April 2012-Present
Prepare AFE’s, stake new wells & build locations for oil and gas wells in Permian Basin.
Research offset well information and write drilling programs for new wells and re-entry
wells.
Design casing strings, cementing plans, directional paths for horizontal wells, drilling
fluids program, drill string and drill bit programs.
Bid out work to different service companies for items like location work, cementing,
drilling fluids, drilling bits, logging, casing, mud logging, wire line, rental equipment etc.
Perform bit hydraulics for improving drilling efficiency and wellbore stability.
Monitoring the daily progress of well operations and current daily costs, comparing actual
costs with cost expenditure proposals and recommending changes or improvements to rig
work techniques, which could lead to optimization of expenditure.
Visit the rigs from time to time to monitor critical drilling operations like cement jobs,
casing runs etc.
Monitor real time drilling activities through Pason, go through morning drilling and cost
reports and discuss day-to-day drilling activities with the onsite drilling consultant for
ongoing projects in Permian Basin.
Managed drilling operations of vertical and horizontal wells in Wolfcamp, Bonespring and
Delaware formations in West Texas and South-east New Mexico.
Research Assistant Jan 2011-Jan 2012
Dept. of Petroleum & Chemical Engineering
New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology, Socorro, NM
Thesis topic “Well Completion Design using well performance modeling, artificial lift
feasibility study, tubular stress and deformation analysis”.
Used Petroleum Experts software “PROSPER” to analyze a well for natural flow under a
given reservoir pressure.
Installed artificial lift methods, “Electric Submersible Pump” and “Artificial Gas Lift”
to start the flow from the well.
Determined the most suitable tubing size on the basis of higher production rate from a set
of available tubing sizes.
Calculated deformation due to different stresses and loads on the selected tubing using the
software Landmark’s WellCat to prevent the tubing from failure.
Field Intern Jun 2011-Aug 2011
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Mehsana, India
Worked on “Extended Reach Drilling and Drilling & Completion of Horizontal Wells” in
the field at Mehsana, India.
Analyzed different factors that affect extended reach drilled wells especially torque and
drag and worked on a mathematical model to reduce the effects of the same on the
wellbore.
Assisted in the drilling of wells and studied about electric submersible pumps and artificial
gas lifts used at Mehsana asset for well completions.
Teaching Assistant Aug 2010-Dec 2010
Dept. of Petroleum & Chemical Engineering
New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology, Socorro, NM
Provided students with an understanding of experiments, analysis and interpretation of
experimental data.
Guided students in the preparation of laboratory reports.
Graded homework, exams and conducted quizzes.
Tutoring sessions to mentor senior undergraduate students.
Research Intern May 2008-Jun 2008
Whirlpool of India Ltd, Faridabad, India
Worked on a project titled “Sealed System of a Refrigerator” and designed a new brazing
technique for joining the Compressor and Anti-Moisture Tube to provide a more robust
and leak-proof joint. This new method is still in operation in the company.
Reduced the variation of compressor oil in an oil charging machine by studying the
governing factors and adjusting the pressure difference in the machine.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Cleared IIT Joint Entrance Examination, IIT JEE (Highest-caliber engineering entrance
examination in India), April 2005.
Participated in “JK TYRE BAJA SAEINDIA 2009” competition organized under SAE
India, ARAI and NATRIP, January-February 2009 and helped my team to develop an All-
Terrain off Road Vehicle for the same.
