Undertook the role of Design Engineer prior to being promoted to Project Engineer on
various project types in Ireland and further International experience in Uganda, Africa -
including but not limited to Residential, Process/ Brewing industry, Energy/Power Plants,
Commercial, Retail, Roads and Rail, Education, Industrial, Hospitals and Masterplanning.
Project Engineer (4/2010 – Present)
Procuring and managing Surveys, including Topographical, Underground Services
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Flow Monitoring/Sewer Condition
Preparing Planning, Tender and Construction drawings for utilities and civil
infrastructure works
Assessing different route options for large pipelines (approximately 10kilometres long)
through both urban and rural environments.
Liaising with Public Authorities/National Agencies to assess their water mains
infrastructure and reservoir capacities and necessary capital investment for upgrade
requirements in an area to provide large volumes of water (1.5million litres per day) to a
Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) Power Plant to be used predominantly in
cooling systems.
Designing stainless steel process pipework systems for brewing facilities.
Co-ordinating services infrastructure as part of large design teams
International experience gained in Kampala, Uganda. Predominantly working as a
Resident Design Reviewer/Clients Representative working in tandem with a local
engineering firm. Main duties being the review, design input and project management of
the hydraulic/drainage elements of the design for the Kampala Bus Rapid Transit(BRT)
Scheme
Acted as a Resident Engineer/Clients’ Representative on a contract for the construction
of foundations and the associated civil works for Variable Message Signals and CCTV
masts on a range of motorways in Ireland - Responsible for Health and Safety (H&S)
onsite, daily reporting and the monitoring of progress and quality procedures
Preparing Planning and Tender drawings, calculations, reports and public
authority/utility provider consultations for drainage and water mains in the
Grangegorman Development, a new University Campus in a City Centre location in
Dublin, Ireland. Responsible for assessing various sustainable urban drainage design
proposals for the site, and managing contractors completing slit trench investigative
works.
Preparing and assessing Suitability Questionnaires/Assessments and Tender submissions
of Contractors for public works contracts
Providing input to Civils 3D BIM models and developing 3D drainage designs using
Windes “Microdrainage” Software
Developing flood flow/flood routing models using 3D topographical profiles/TIN
(Triangular Irregular Network) data
Providing input to various Masterplanning reports including calculations for Water, Gas,
Electricity, Foul and Surface Water demands for the schemes
Design of services diversions for Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) schemes including but
not limited to Water, Telecoms, Gas, Drainage and Electricity, in addition to conducting
all consultations with the relevant services providers
Managing output from CAD Technicians
Managing the design of and liaising with colleagues from overseas offices as part of a
large international design team
Auditor for the Dublin Office Environmental Management and Quality Management
Systems as well as H&S Audits on various projects
Responsible for training junior staff in Windes “Microdrainage” Software

Completed hand calculations for surface water and foul drainage design from first
principles
Assessed sites for the suitability of SuDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) and
designed for such, including but not limited to: Attenuation ponds/tanks, detention
basins, green roofs, rain water harvesting, swales, soakaways, infiltration trenches and
permeable paving/car parks
Created models for surface and foul drainage using Windes “Microdrainage” software
Wrote/Provided input to Planning, Masterplanning, Strategic Infrastructure and EIS
