Design Build Validate Production CAD to Art workflow solutions for TESLA FORD LEARJET JEEP

Images above were created from Catia engineering data, using the master model workflow. WORK EXPERIENCE

DTWICK, Wichita, KS Nov 1, 2017 – Current

3D CAD Technical Illustrations / 3D CAD Cutaways / 3D CAD Art from Catia and other engineering programs http://www.dtwick.com/

New 2018 samples focusing on lighting and technical Illustrations, Service manual Images and structure Available for new projects, onsite mentoring, full-time, part-time, remote projects or ?. TESLA, Fremont, CA January 5, 2017 – October 31, 2017 CAD Production Technical Illustrator

Designed and implemented workflow improvements to meet goals for Model 3 service and parts manuals:

• Architected and maintained CAD models (using source data from Catia).

• Built system to manage customer requests and fulfillment using JIRA.

• Designed and specified file server for CAD file sharing (RAID, fiber 10Gbs network, remote desktop access).

• Produced, conservatively, 10x more usable illustrations in the same time as the old workflow.

• Exceeded customer expectations for style, accuracy, and speed.

• Achieved production of 800 images in 2 months towards the Model 3 Service Manual

• Trained other illustrators on the new system in less than a week Images above were created for the service manual from Catia engineering data. 5% Photoshop retouching used.

The Initial request was to produce over 1300 images for the Model 3 service manual. The existing workflow delivered images at an average rate of less than 3 images per day. The estimated time to deliver all requested images would be about 1.6 years in person-hours.

Using my new workflow, we delivered all requested images in about 3 months of man hours. My final, improved workflow consistently delivers images at a rate of over 24 images per day. Peak days exceed 40 images produced, and rework is extremely low. I easily trained other illustrators on the new system, and they also produce these results.

Because of the efficiency of my new workflow, resources allowed for expanding the illustration requests to support new features for the manuals:

• Full graphical drill-down using splash images for each level

• Splash images that support reuse for training, parts, and reference manuals

• 2K and 4K images that support VR, AR, and voice-over walkthroughs

• Wow-effect to encourage use of the manuals

• Unique systems graphically explained for first-time users

• Inline images of special tools and bolts in procedures DTWICK, Wichita, KS April 2012 – January 2017

• Customers would not sign off on materials to get their aircraft built without seeing an artist rendering of their choices first. Learjet no longer had an artist on site, a weeklong visit was suggested as a consultant to evaluate the current environment and make recommendations.
