My name is Deondre Lawrence, a Deck Cadet of the Caribbean Maritime University located in Jamaica, and an attachment to the Antigua Port Authority as a Trainee Marine Pilot. I am on a B. Sc. Marine Transportation programme there at the university, of which I have completed two full years with two remaining along with the required sea time.

I understand that you have a Cadet Programme and I would like to take the opportunity to reach out to you with hopes of achieving some positive grounds as I am in search of sea time.

I have pretty much been on quite a bit of vessel types here in Antiguan waters during the pilotage as a trainee with our local Pilots. So I do have valuable practical experience in ship handling & manoeuvring container vessels as well as other types of vessels. With that, I do believe that coupled with what I have learnt during my two years at the university, I am capable of serving well as a Cadet onboard.

Presently I am in Antigua on my summer break from the university and I am also in the process of getting my discharge book done. With that said, I have been thinking of the possibilities of joining with you for the sea time aspect of my training.

Documents including my Basic Safety Training and Security Awareness Training certificates can be provided, passport information along with a seafarers medical and pictures. The discharge book as I mentioned earlier is still in process, but ofcourse with an opportunity to join you, the process can be expedited.
