Adjunct Professor - General Education. Created and presented a class in ethical theory for traditional and adult learners in undergraduate degree programs.

Provide leadership in ethics for the subcommittee to development a new program in Professionalism with the Medical College and the University Medical Center.
MOUNT CARMEL HEALTH SYSTEM, Columbus, OH 11/95 – 12/04
Ethicist (11/96-12/04). Provided leadership in ethics for the medical staff, administrative and management staff, and the Board of Directors through the four key functions of education, consultation and case analysis, policy development, and the organization's integrity program. Gave guidance to health care providers in identifying moral issues consistent with the Core Competencies for Health Care Ethics Consultation developed by the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities.
Executed and maintained a 24 -hour ethics consultation service for the medical staff and healthcare providers throughout the system. Completed over 4,000 consultations for the system.
Facilitated effective communication between patients, families, and staff members.
Recognized, examined, and sought to understand the various relational barriers as well as cultural and diversity issues that affect communication and working relationships in the healthcare setting.
Maintained interprofessional collaborative relationships for Mount Carmel and other providers, such as the Catholic Conference of Ohio, Lifeline of Ohio Organ Procurement, Council for Ethics in Economics, and the Columbus Medical Association's subcommittees on bioterrorism.
Organized and maintained three clinical ethics committees that convened monthly.
Developed a program for Ethical/Mission Discernment to address the appropriateness of corporate development plans.
Designed and produced all policies related to ethical issues for the clinical and organizational areas in the Mount Carmel System.
Served as co-chair of the Institutional Review Board for approval of research applications at all Mount Carmel sites. Also co-chaired the Organizational Integrity Council.

Member of the Regulatory Support Team to maintain readiness for all on-site regulatory reviews.
Organized and facilitated the annual Bruce E. Siegel Memorial Lecture for ethics for 8 years.

Adjunct Professor. Designed and taught Bachelor of Nursing course in clinical ethics. Consulted with students addressing ethical issues in clinical areas. Served on the steering committee in the development of the Rho Omicron Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for the College of Nursing. Also served on the planning committee for the development of a Masters in Nursing for the College.

On-call Hospice Nurse. Assisted families and patients with the emotional issues they faced as they confronted death issues. Served on the design committee for a free-standing hospice facility.

Critical Care Registered Nurse. General critical care nursing responsibilities for post open-heart and trauma patients.
MOUNT CARMEL, Columbus, OH 5/79 – 9/82
Critical Care Registered Nurse & Critical Care Coordinator. General critical care nursing responsibilities for post open-heart and surgical intensive care patients.
Designed and completed retrospective research of 250 medical records regarding pulmonary
complications in the post open-heart patient. Obtained, compiled and analyzed data in 20-25 areas of importance resulting in changes in the medical interventions for patients undergoing surgery.
Educated and supervised new staff in critical care nursing.

Director for Service and Rehabilitation for Ohio. Executed and supervised the state-wide programs in service and rehabilitation in each of the 90 county American Cancer Society headquarters, including the Reach to Recovery, Ostomy Program and Let No Woman Be Overlooked (cervical cancer program).
1975 Selected the first Miss Hope of Ohio and now responsible for its continuation as the Nurse of Hope program.
WOMAN'S CLINIC, Sandusky, Ohio 9/75 – 2/77
Clinic Manager. Executed daily operations of OB-GYN office practice for three physicians. Oversaw finances, long-range forecasts, and budget reports. Implemented new programs, policies, and an informed consent process. Trained and managed 25 office staff members.
