Epitec Inc. Contract Engineer. 7/6/2015-12/16/2016. Contract hire to Caterpillar Gear design Team as a Gear Designer. Duties included design of spur, helical, ring, and straight and hypoid bevel gears, using Pro Engineer Creo, running under IPEM in a Team Center data environment. Specific tooth geometry and gear data blocks were generated with proprietary CLASH software. Also Engineering Change notices (ECN’s), New part issuances, and special projects such as spread gear assemblies, and interference analysis. Contract was cut short in second year due to Caterpillar budget and personnel restructuring, and the extensive layoff of engineering personnel.

Volt Technical Services, Contract Manufacturing Engineer. 2/21/11-8/24/12. Contracted to local mining and steel industry supplier of large scale vehicles. Design of welding and machining fixture design using Unigraphics NX 7.5 through Teamcenter. Specific tasks consisted of design and modeling of welding and machining fixtures for production of their next generation CIII coal trucks, Straddle carriers, slag carriers, and various components, as well as modeling of existing production machine tools used in house to produce components. Work involved a high volume of component detailing, complex assembly drawings, and BOM’s. Additional software’s required were solidworks and Microsoft Excel.

Alipro LLC, Contract test engineer. 8/25 08 - 1/31/09. Contracted to Caterpillar as a Test Engineer at the Caterpillar Technical Center. Duties included design and implementation of test builds and tests of torque converters and transmissions as part of the Cycling Transmissions Team. Job required understanding of Electronic Clutch Pressure Controls, Automatic Transmission design and Planetary Gearset Design. Also specialized software knowledge (DATK, Pro-E Wildfire) and familiarity with Caterpillar engineering standards.

Manpower Technical, Contract IE. 4/23/2008 - 7/2/2008. Contracted to Caterpillar through ATS to assist with a ZMS (Zero Mechanical State) project at the Caterpillar Transmission plant in East Peoria. Project required knowledge of machines, equipment, processes, tooling, and maintenance procedures involved in production of gears, gear sets, and drive trains. Extensive shop floor photo documentation and physical machine measurements were also required. Also knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat and lotus notes as required.

CBT Companies, Detailer/Designer 4/2004 - 5/2005. Employed initially as a checker, also a Designer /Detailer for Caterpillar off site, for work on engine, cab, and track group designs using Pro-Engineer and Pro-E Wildfire. The position also required use of Cat EDS for entry and updating of notices pertaining to product design drawings.

Strom Engineering. Peoria, IL. Contract Product Designer. 2000. Employed to design and detail Dump bodies for use in the mining industry. Manpower Technical. Pekin, IL. Contract Programmer/Tech. 1998-99. Employed to program macros and Autolisp subroutines required to automate CATV strand map drafting procedures for a cable system construction company. Position required AutoCAD R14, Windows 95, 98, NT, and Bentley Microstation 95.

Professional Maintenance of Ill. Peoria, IL. Contract Tech, 1997-98. Employed for a variety of duties involving maintenance of tooling for Caterpillar Inc. Cutting tool setup, tool crib attendance, tool inventory, and maintenance. Also sharpening (grinding) of hobs and incoming tool inspection.
