Project Description:

The project consist of the design and construction of a new interchange at the existing

Van Dusen Road crossing I-95 with the cost of $33,000,000.00. The minimum scope of

the project includes a 4-lane bridge crossing I-95 supporting the proposed 1-95

collector/

distributor (C/D) roads. The C/D roads are to be built by others and are not included as

part of this contract. In addition to the bridge, the minimum contract includes two loop

ramps and two directional ramps in the south-wwest and south-east quadrants of the

inter- change. The ramps will tie-in to the C/D roads to be built by others. The minimum

contract also includes approximately 3,700 feet of Contee Road Relocated new roadway

construction.

The maximum contract limits include approximately an additional 1,300 feet of new

roadway construction to the east, including a new construction with Van Dusen Road; and

approximately an additional 1,450 feet of a new roadway construction to the west

towards Old Gunpowder Road.

The utmost importance to the Administration for this project is to complete the

demolition of the existing Van Dusen bridge over I-95 on or before the required date in

the RFP while designing and constructing the maximum project limits and associated

improvements feasible, within the maximum price established for the project.

Maximum project roadway improvements include new full depth construction,

construction of roadway tie-ins, reforestation, closed/open drainage systems, erosion and

sediment control, maintenance of traffic, signal work, roadway lighting, signing and

marking, earthworks, SWM quality and quality facilities and utilities relocations.

Project Description:

The Parkway Project (Phase I & II)- Consists of constructing a four-lane divided

limited access highway to complete the missing link of the Fairfax

County Parkway. The project corridor begins at Rolling Road/Franconia-

Springfield Parkway and proceeds southeastward on a new alignment and ends

east of Fullerton Road. This corridor is approximately 1.5 miles long and a

majority of the new alignment is located on the southern portion of the BNA. The

work involved in the Parkway Project includes grading, drainage, paving,

bridges, noise walls, lighting, traffic signals, landscaping, signing and striping.

The total budget for Phase I & II is ~124M with ~$75M for the design/build

contract.

Phase III–Consists of all work to the west of the Donegal Lane intersection. This

work includes Franconia-Springfield Parkway interchange

improvements, relocated Hooes Road, relocated Rolling Road, and Ramp D from

existing eastbound Parkway onto the new Phase III of the Parkway. This

phase includes bridge B-692 and noise walls for relocated Rolling Road and

noise walls along Ramp D. The delivery of this Phase is through a separate

design-build contract that was awarded on January 13, 2010. The final design

plan submission was approved in October 2010, with construction beginning

in November. The Phase III Project is scheduled for completion by July 20

(Cost ~ $22M).

Phase IV – Consists of all work on Boudinot Drive and the associated

interchange. This phase includes bridge B-693 at Accotink Creek and has been

identified as the higher priority by the local public, with the Fairfax County

Board of Supervisors passing a resolution to formally support this. This Phase

was added under a contract modification to the current design-build contract for

Phases I and II (Cost ~ $23M). The final design plan submission was completed

in January 2010, with a completion of construction by July 2011.

-Responsible for the inspection of construction projects more particularly in

areas of utilities such as water, storm drain, sewer, underground water storage
