Research Synopsis

Condensed matter physics, numerical quantum chemistry, computational physics,

nanoscience, developing and implementation of computational techniques The areas of ex-

pertise: semiconductors, ferroelectrcs, magnetics, multiferroics and alloys in their bulk and

low-dimensional forms such as lms, nanowires, nanotubes, fullerenes, nanodots. Research

interests: dynamical, thermal, mechanical, electronic, conducting, stability properties of

bulk and nanosrtuctures, formation mechanisms for nanosrtuctures and tubular forms, nite-

temperature properties, phase transitions in ferroelectrics and multiferroics, large scale paral-

lel computer simulations. Computational techniques: Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics,

empirical potentails (Brenner, Terso, Stillinger-Weber interatomic potentials), semiempir-

ical tight-binding simulations with orthogonal and nonorthogonal basis, ab initio-based ef-

fective hamiltonian techniques, fully ab initio techniques.
