Selected Accomplishments

Created successful special event. SETI Institutes full range of activities was not well known to the public, leading to ineffective fund raising. Developed and implemented convention, SETIcon, to showcase the Institutes work. SETIcon was a great success with 900+ attendees from around the world. Event is now a regular bi-annual event.

Identified and implemented data management system. SETI lacked a unified, cohesive grant tracking and documentation system. Identified and tested database solutions. Selected and implemented new system, making information available to all stake-holders. System was adopted institute-wide.

Distribute radio program for world-wide broadcast. SETIs radio show needed quick post-production to allow for proper distribution nationally and internationally. Developed and implemented procedures to convert audio files into appropriate formats and populate distributor websites ensuring listeners have show in a timely manner.

Led automation of major library. Santa Claras library was the last un-automated library in the county. Researched and identified optimal integrated library system, installed new hardware, and configured the new system. Developed and implemented training programs for the staff and public, successfully rolling out the system.

Provided key sales support to close deal. Potential new customer met with Innovative Interfaces upper management sales team. The customer was known to be loyal to their current vendor and suspicious of change. Worked with sales team to present companys values, practices, and products to successfully close $100K deal.

Career History

Grants Administrator, SETI Institute 2008 to Present. $17.5M scientific non-profit, exploring the prevalence of life in the universe. Serve as initial point of contact for new researchers. Work with funding agencies. Perform all grant administrative functions over lifetime of award, including proposal submission, recordkeeping, and reporting.

Production Assistant, SETI, 2006 to present. Direct marketing of weekly one-hour radio / podcast (Big Picture Science) to new stations. Serve as liaison with radio stations and distributors. Coordinate fundraising activities.

Manager of Institutional Advancement Research and Web Content, SETI, 2004 to 2008. Maintained and administered donor software database management system (Raisers Edge.) Acted as membership coordinator managing donor relations. Created fundraising collateral and represented Institute at conventions.

Product Manager, Circulation, Innovative Interfaces, Inc., ($90M computer software developers), 2001 to 2004. Served as liaison between customer and software design team and provided customer support. Key decision maker for new product development. Led beta testing and directed staff and customer training on new software.

Knowledge Engineer, Sageware, Inc., (Startup software development company), 2000 to 2001. Identified industry specific search terms and created code sets. Tested code effectiveness and participated in new product review. Worked with sales and marketing to provide customer support. Promoted to technical lead within first six months.
