Summary

I'm a self-motivated person who thrives in either in a team or as an individual contributor. I have a

My most recent position with Frontier Communications was eliminated in December, 2012, after a

total of 17 years with the company and its various predecessors through several mergers and

acquisitions.

Experience

Sales Engineer

Frontier Communications - September 1995 - December 2012

As a sales engineer (formerly "Technical Consultant") I have been responsible for designing and

pricing customer networking solutions. My specialties were data networking solutions such as Frame

Relay, ATM, Ethernet, MPLS, SONET and TDM technologies. As a Sales Engineer, I provided technical

support to the sales team and customers on a daily basis. This included producing network designs,

pricing solutions, and direct interface with our customers. As a Sales Engineer, I was responsible for

developing and leading presentations on Frontier's products and services both to our internal sales

teams and to our customers. Sales Engineers were responsible for sales and revenue growth just as

much as the Account Reps, and a portion of our compensation was based on revenue performance.

I started in 1995 as a contractor with MCI Telecommunications providing data entry services. I was

hired full-time in September, 1997, to develop and maintain a database system for tracking and

managing order activity along with both internal and customer-facing Web interfaces. That system is

still in use by Verizon today. After the purchase of MCI by WorldCom, Inc., I was transitioned into the

position of Technical Consultant. I handled not only the pre-sale network design and technical sales

presentation responsibilities of a Sales Engineer, but continued to maintain departmental database

systems and user interfaces used to track the activities and revenue potential in the sales pipeline of

the Sales Engineering team. Following the subsequent purchase of MCI WorldCom, Inc. by Verizon, I

continued in my role as Sales Engineer, performing both pre-and post-sale account support activities.

Finally, in 2010, Frontier completed their purchase of a portion of Verizon's footprint throughout the

rural US. I was assigned to Frontier as part of that transaction and continued to operate in my

capacity as Sales Engineer until my position was eliminated in December of 2012.

Circuit Board Assembler

Reliance Electric - 1994 - 1995

Working at Reliance Electric, I performed manual and automated circuit board assembly. Although

this was a temporary position, it afforded me the opportunity to improve my abilities to work in a

team-oriented environment as well as my self-motivation. Each assembler worked on individual

projects that then were integrated with other team members' projects into the final product.

Teller

NBD Bank - 1991 - 1994

In my role as Teller, I was able to build my interpersonal and communications skills. Dealing with the

public on a daily basis, I was required to communicate clearly and adapt to circumstances or

challenges that may arrise. Tellers at NBD were considered the first line of sales, reaching customers

more directly than any other form of contact. Tellers were tasked with the responsibility of analyzing

the customer's needs for financial services and helping them to decide which of the bank's products

and services might meet their needs, and then, funneling those sales leads to the bank officers.

Projects

SMARTS

* September 1995 to September 1997 - Frontier Communications (MCI)The SMARTS database system was used by sales teams in what was formerly MCI's Carrier

Sales & Service division to monitor and track order activity from several hundred clients. It

provided day-to-day updates on the status of individual orders and also management

reporting functions to allow the sales teams to monitor their performance in turning up

services to our customers.

The system consisted of a SQL Server back end and both MS Access and Web (HTML, CSS,

JavaScript, VBScript, ASP) front ends. I designed and maintained the database system and

coded both front end UI's.

Opportunity Manager

* September 1997 to January 2010 - Frontier Communications (WorldCom/Verizon)Opportunity Manager was a project management / sales funnel / activity tracking system used

by Sales Engineering individual contributors and management. It provided a way for the Sales

Engineering organization to quantify our contribution to the company, while also giving the

individual contributors a centralized tool for tracking their activities.

Opportunity Manager consisted of a SQL Server back end and a Web (HTML, CSS, JavaScript,

VBScript, ASP) front end. Sales Engineers would enter their activities on a daily basis and

update them as progress was made. Managers could pull various complex reports to view SE

activities, track progress and determine impact to the company (in terms of potential new

revenue or, in some cases, potential lost revenue).

I was responsible for developing the database design/architecture, implementing and

maintaining the database and also coding the HTML UI and all reporting.
