Professional Interests
I am interested in the role training and education plays in the workforce. In this rapidly changing
environment the ability to quickly train and reliably assess the knowledge of employees is going
to be a deciding factor in the survivability of corporations. My interests specifically focus on
methods of training and assessment utilizing technology with the goal of maximizing
information transfer and generalization, the ability to use gained knowledge in new domains. My
dissertation research focused on cognitive factors and their influence on the learning process,
specifically as related to programmed instruction and distance learning. I investigated several
cognitive variables that effect working memory load to determine the effects they have on long-
term retention and generalization in a programmed learning environment. My long-term goals
are to work in the area of Instructional Design/Curriculum Development and Performance
Management.
