As you can see from my resume I have more technical knowledge than is needed for the position

but have been in the IT Industry since 1995 and have had to learn different things for particular situations.

In Knox County Office of Information Technology I am the get it done guy. If there is something that needs

to be done yesterday I get the project. I work very comfortably in a high stress environment.

I am a LAMP engineer to put it simple. I have several years experience in Linux, MySQL, and

PHP/Perl programming. I can start from nothing and build Amazon.com. My open source servers have a

much higher uptime than any other system because every system is tested and configured to the most

optimum and efficient configuration before put into service. I proficient in Internet technologies (DNS, IP,

network security, and others). I have built applications from monitoring servers to Internet interaction. I

have managed firewalls and Layer 3 switches with load balancing. I have a lot of knowledge when it comes

to technology and hope to share this with your company.

When I came to the county they had a static web site with bad navigation, poor performance, and

practically no hits. I took it from 80,000 hits to 7,000,000 hits per month. There is interactive content

everywhere. I built the search engines, tax lookup, court docket listing, and many other things. The best

thing about all this is that everything runs open source that means zero cost other than hardware which is

still modest because I custom compile my own kernels to run very efficiently. The web server is a dual

processor 1.7 Ghz w/2 Gb memory and it still has plenty of grown.

I also manage several servers in house. The Internet is only a small portion of the work that has to

be done. The portion of my job description that says and other duties is 80% of what I do. I am the go to

guy for the Knox County IT. I have built so many custom applications just get everybody running efficiently.

90% of the applications are used exclusively internally only and the others are used internally and

externally. Most county employees like using my applications better than the can solutions they have on

their desktops because of speed and efficiency and some department head have made my applications

more important than the can solutions.

I could tell you all day all the accomplishments I have done but you should get the idea about who

this is. I never turn down a challenge and have not failed yet. I am involved in several sourceforge projects

and run one myself (phpsyncml.sourceforge.net) that has lots of activity.
