407-***-**** Cell
A skilled, adaptable, computer troubleshooter who turns chaos into order by establishing
standards, procedures, and training while utilizing state-of-the-art technologies.
Management experience: For over twenty five years I have held roles with ever
increasing responsibilities which included Customer Support Management, Software
Configuration Management, Military Standards for Government contracts, and 24x7
Enterprise-Class global data center operations. In the above roles I ve managed from 3
to 104 System Administrators, Database Administrators, Network Administrators,
Configuration Management Engineers, Quality Assurance and Development Engineers.
Technical experience: I have managed either the configuration management or data
center management fields dealing with Solaris, HP, DEC and Windows platforms. I have
also taught UNIX or was a manager of customer support. I have written programs or
utilities that assisted in the automation of duties or information gathering
activities for the management positions.
Strengths: I have been able to consistently improve processes while reducing costs.
My years of experience allow me to identify and resolve problems that less experienced
people may overlook. In the case of data centers, I can typically reduce overall
expenditures by making more informed evaluations of where the actual system
bottlenecks are. At Oracle, this resulted in a posted $150 million per year savings
in IT (see paragraph 18 of http://www.businessweek.com/2000/00_19/b3680001.htm) and
raised Oracle's production server s uptime from 91.7% to 100%. At GTE Government
Systems, my automated configuration change management system automatically generated
Engineering Change Proposals, etc for Government approval.
Consulting Duties: Responsible for a variety of services to various companies based
upon their individual needs or circumstances. These companies include Excite@Home,
MasterCard, Monsanto, and others.
Standards and procedures: Since the early 1990 s I have instituted repeatable
standards for problem resolution and change management including encouraging
documented procedures for problem solving so as eliminate excessive downtimes for
repeatable problems. Cross training is high on my list when managing departments so
that all personnel are exposed to and are able to solve minor problems quickly before
they become major incidents.

Oracle Corporation - Director, Data Center Operations - 04/96-06/00

over 30 TB of disk, on a gigabit network backbone housing both internal and external
customer-interfacing products, covering about 16,000 sq. ft. of floor space.
The Operations Department was staffed by administrators with Unix, NT, Network, and
Database experienced to meet the 24 x 7 support model, providing a variety of system

hardware and software performance.
Created and maintained the Data Center intranet web site allowed Oracle to consolidate
17 Data Centers into one which supported 60 countries into Headquarters which resulted
in a published 150 million dollar per year reduction in IT costs.

Two of the Major Software Products that were copyrighted by me, were CompuTst and
BARDOOR.
COMPUTST (c), 1990 by Larry Clements; A Volumetric Fuel Leak Detection Package that
detected leaks in underground fuel storage tanks. CompuTst utilized data acquisition,
thermocouple, and strain gage electronic measuring devices. CompuTst used 1990
Environmental Protection Agency guidelines and incorporated the Height-to-Volume
measurement of the leak rate in conjunction with the coefficient of expansion and
temperature formulas published by the National Fire Protection Agency. CompuTst was
approved for use in 34 states.
BARDOOR (c), 1989 by Larry Clements; A patient monitoring system for nursing homes.
BARDOOR monitored patients tagged with the Code-Alert (tm) radio transmitting device
through the use of a 24 bit parallel digital I/O interface board and alerted personnel
if a patient "wandered off". It also monitored adjacent apartment complexes for
emergency call or smoke detection devices. If a call was detected, BARDOOR printed out
patient information from its database and switched on remote control camera and/or
paging units as needed. BARDOOR also utilizes VGA technology by displaying patient
information, and a photo of the patient for easy identification by security or nursing
personnel. BARDOOR is currently being used in South Florida Nursing Homes.
Gould Computer Systems Div., Technical Training Instructor - 01/88-06/89

upgrading.
Tandy Area Training and Support Center Manager -04/81-01/88
In April of 1981, I was hired by Radio Shack in a "TEST CASE" position to answer customer
questions concerning computers. In January 1982, based upon our success, Tandy hired 600
Customer Support Representatives nationwide. I wrote the Customer Tracking program that
involved 7 separate database information files that tracked customer calls for help, what
type of hardware and software they used, and the problems and answers they were given. It
tied into the national question and answer database so time was not spent duplicating
answers that were already solved.
