Overview

Over 20 years of successful management and leadership experience in an environment under some of the most challenging organizational goals and objectives. Performed in a variety of leadership position from 1989-2010 as a team leader in charge of 3-4 persons to a First Sergeant managing up to 150 persons. Operations Sergeant of a infantry battalion which ran the higher level organization of the battalion providing tactical and technical guidance and professional support and routinely made recommendations to superiors in the accomplishment of their duties; plans, coordinates, and supervises activities pertaining to the organization, training, and combat options; edits and prepares tactical plans and training materials; and coordinates the implementation of operations, training programs, and communications activities.

Professional Experience

United States Army, 1987 - 2010

Master Sergeant - Completed a 23-year career with the U.S. Army. Gained upper-level manager status serving as an Operation Sergeant in charge of the daily operations in the operations center for a combined arms battalion of the 18th Airborne Corps. The infantry senior sergeant in a combine arms battalion serving as the principle noncommissioned officer in an infantry light, or mechanized unit at company and battalion level (approximately 650 persons at times) positions.

Management:

Senior Military Instructor for a Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) battalion of over a 155 Cadets 6 Cadre and 4 Civilian employees. Performed duties as the Operations Sergeant of a forward deployed mechanized battalion during combat operations in Iraq supervising a 68 man operations shop that conducted daily planning and execution of those plans for a 600 person mechanized infantry battalion during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Platoon Sergeant of a 40 man Mechanized Infantry Platoon responsible for training, discipline, leadership and welfare of the platoon during combat operations in Iraq. Senior Noncommissioned Officer in charge of 4 Officers and 18 Soldiers of a Military Transition Team which planned and coordinated the training of an Iraqi Army battalion of 640 Soldiers and their staff on daily operations and the conducting of combat operations.

Operations & Logistics: The supply technician for a ROTC battalion. Responsible for controlling the procurement of supplies for 155 students and cadre. Making sure that I kept the spending within budget requirements. Maintained accountability of all training, clothing, furniture, military gear, computers and automation equipment in the battalion. Trained in the use of the Government Purchase Card which is held by the primary supply person responsible for the management of the operating budget. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word 2007, excel and power point programs. Coordinated the maintenance of over 30 vehicles in a mechanized battalion from Bradley Fighting Vehicles to 5 ton trucks to include all weapons systems and individual weapons in the operations center for the battalion. Directly coordinated with the maintenance supervisors in the organization for the ordering of parts for all vehicles and scheduling of maintenance to keep the vehicles and equipment in a mission ready status at all times. Tracked and scheduled all the maintenance and accountability for $35.7 million in equipment and government property while serving as the Operations Sergeant of a Mechanized Infantry Battalion during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Platoon Sergeant for a mechanized platoon planned and ordered the logistics for a 40 man platoon from the ordering of daily rations, ammunitions, individual's weapons and equipment, and parts for Bradley Fighting Vehicles needed to sustain combat operations in Iraq during Iraqi Freedom III. Directly in charge of overseeing all maintenance in the platoon of 4 Bradley Fighting Vehicles and all associated equipment worth $13 million. Maintained a 95% mission ready status for the platoon during combat operations in Iraq.

Training & Development:

Spent the last 4 years as the Senior Military Instructor for a Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) battalion (Fort Valley State University, Fort Valley Georgia). Planned and coordinated training, for over 150 Cadets to prepare them in becoming productive commissioned officers in the United States Army. Directly responsible for a 30% increase in enrollment in the ROTC program. Since arriving by applying aggressive recruiting and developing well executed training programs the battalion has sent more Cadets to schools such as Leadership Development and Assessment Course, Leadership Training Course, Airborne School, and Air assault school than the 4 previous years. Commissioned over 30 Cadets in the last four years into the United States Army.
