Invensys Home Control Systems is one of the solution providers for the home

appliance industry. The product is part of the Home Automation Solution

developed by Invensys Controls. The product is a Motorola MPC860T processor

based board.

My role is to understand the OSGi concepts and learn how to write bundles using

Sun's JES. The bundles are developed using Java and XML. The bundles are based

on the protocol set by the partners of the Monitoring project for the Home

Appliances. Some part of the protocol is in the form of xml messages. Also I

developed the user interface for installing the bundles on the Motorola MPC860T

processor board and verify whether the setup made by the technician is correct.

Developed some new components, which is not available with the standard swing

components. The project involves Socket programming, Threads, JNI calls to the

APIs of the native OS and developing xml messages.

The project involves developing web pages for the GSA business of the DCM

Technologies. The modules are Request for Persons, Visa Processing and GSA

Details. The module Request for Persons involves searching the database based

on the request from the client, selecting the eligible candidates and

authorizing the request. The Visa Processing module involves getting the visa

inputs from the candidates, updating the visa status, request for transfer to

US and transfer to India. The GSA Details module involves the filling the GSA

Summary, GSA Personal Data Sheet and GSA Feedback. Each of these modules has

various reports used for the business analysis.

Designed and developed as a Java application for the consulting business of DCM

Technologies using UML, EJB, JDK1.2.2, Java Servlets, JDBC, SQL Server 7.0,

WebLogic Server 5.1. UML was used to make the Object Oriented Design with

System Architect. Enterprise Java Beans were used to implement the application.

Session beans were used to maintain the Work-Flow and Business Process, and

Entity Beans were used to maintain the Object-Oriented view of persistent data.

XML was used to develop the deployment descriptor. Web Logic Server 5.1 was

used to deploy EJB and Java Servlets.

Involved in making of CRS and the design using the UML with System Architect,

implementation of the package using Java Servlets, EJB, XML and preparing

functional Test Plans for the package and executing it to double check with the

Requirement Specifications.

Quality Assurance Application - Planning Database

This package generates the reports in the form of HTML pages of the projects

done in DCM Technologies on different areas. This project is mainly concerned

with the data of the previous projects done in the organization for the

software quality assurance. The past data, that is, stored in the database is

retrieved and displayed as reports that are needed by the project managers and

project leaders to make estimation for the current project. The reports are

plan reports, defect reports and general documents. The plan reports are

planning summary reports, project-wise plan reports and project characteristics

reports. The defect reports are defect summary report and project-wise defect

report. The general documents are CRS and PMP of the projects selected.

Involved in making of CRS, implementation of the package using Java Servlets,

preparing unit test plans from the design, making functional Test Plans for the

package from Requirement Specifications and deployed using Java Web Server 2.0.

The project involves coding and testing a 32-bit version of an engine control

program for use by a Japanese Automobile Manufacturing Giant. The aim is to

implement the design and make unit test plans for the white box testing and

write the driver programs in C to test various modules of the engine control

unit. The specification and overall design of each module is sent by the

customer for coding and testing. The modules are tested as per the software

quality set by the customer. The modules are implemented, tested, reviewed and

delivered within the deadline of the customer.

My role involves implementing and making unit test plans for white box testing

of the module and execution of the same to check whether the coding is done

according to the design and specifications provided by the customer. I used

Green Hills C Compiler and multi debugger for the white box testing which

include the code coverage tool used to check the C1 (100%) coverage. I was

involved in reviewing of test plans made by the peer developers.
