Change processes resulted in increased gross sales of 50%+ and a profit margin exceeding 30% in the first year of the turnaround process. All company functions were completely revamped to include: Marketing/Sales/Human Resources/Accounting/Business Model/Re-branding and new name designed to set company apart from competitors and establish name recognition. Led and developed from inception a full-service EHS Consulting and Management firm, which offers engineering and other professional services to general industry and government entities solving multimedia EHS issues, including Sustainability, on a local and international basis. Built a management team and Board of Directors which enabled company’s rapid growth and resulted in it ultimately becoming the largest privately held EHS Firm in the State of Kansas. Gross sales grew to over three million dollars and provided employment for 32 full-time technical and support staff. Company specialized in providing high level, cost efficient, innovative solutions to Fortune 500 Companies worldwide. Highlighted accomplishments include:

Provided total outsourced EHS support to Boeing Aircraft over a 3 year period, which enabled Boeing to complete a two billion dollar facility upgrade supporting the manufacture of the 737 fuselage and other critical parts of the 747, 767, and 777. Services provided were estimated to havesaved Boeing approximately 50+ million dollars via innovative approaches used to support the upgrade. Innovative approaches included design and implementation of salvage plans that supported Sustainable Development, for equipment no longer needed, in lieu of disposal. Project resulted in minimal injury and illness to employees, contractors participating in the work, local community, and smoothed the negotiation process for environmental permits and modifications with local, state and federal officials.

Developed and implemented a Comprehensive Strategy to assess the occupational work environment associated with health hazards.Incorporated the strategy into various types of workplaces including Oil/Chemical Refining and Manufacture, Construction, Energy Production, Medical, and Machine Shops. Thestrategy resulted in 50%+ dollar savings to clients by streamlining past, outdated strategies and provided information to protect them from litigation due to workplace injuries.

Developed and provided turnkey environmental remediation services in 1999. This process provided an outsourced solution to clients who required a higher level of protection from the liability otherwise associated with Hazmat activities typically available through minimally trained and equipped contractors. Services included full-time oversight by Hazmat trained engineers and technicians.

Originated and established a comprehensive plan to identify, survey, track, manage and label asbestos containing building materials (ACBMs) in response to the upgraded asbestos regulations published by OSHA/EPA and state regulators in the mid 90s. Portions of this plan were subsequently used by regulators to provide advice and guidance to the regulated public. Strategy was implemented nationwide in client facilities located in at least 32 states.

Formed relationship with Wichita State University to provide EHS training on and off campus. Grew training program to be the largest of its type in the region.

Led numerous corrective action studies and subsequent remediation of contaminated property and facilities. Work included installation of groundwater monitoring wells, soil sampling, QA/QC methods, geological, hydro-geological, topographical and meteorological assessments.

Established a foundation for a comprehensive and working EHS program from the elements of a previously abandoned EHS program. Provided leadership, coordination, vision casting, program design, training and other basic elements to create a working program for two major aircraft manufacturing locations, one in Kansas and the other in Arizona. Program ultimately included 11 aircraft maintenance operations located around the world. Each of these locations was required to comply with not only local, state and federal regulations, but also regulations pertaining to their international geographic location. Responsible for oversight of the company medical and Workers Compensation program. Additional selected achievements included:

Development and initiation of OSHA Hazcom program at all corporate locations. Program included procedures for tracking, identifying, and training all employees in the hazards associated with chemicals and other physical hazards in the workplace.

Development of tracking and reporting procedures for all hazardous materials processed at all company locations under the EPA SARA Title III program.

Provided guidance and leadership to identify leaking underground storage tanks (USTs) under newly enacted EPA regulations. Initiated cleanup operations associated with tanks found to be leaking.

Provided EHS input to purchasers of the Learjet Corporation through the due diligence procedures of two individual purchasers of the company, Integrated Resources and Bombardier Aerospace. Coordinated all activity with company legal team to ensure protection of company assets. Ultimately, Learjet was sold to both suitors without major undiscovered and uncontrolled environmental findings that enabled Learjet to obtain top pricing for all company assets.

Provided EHS guidance and support accompanying the movement of major assembly manufacturing operations from Arizona to Kansas. Support included shutdown of major facilities in Tucson and startup of the same operations in Kansas.

Navigated the company through a maize of EPA and State environmental regulations associated with an illegal chemical dumping facility containing 10+ years of hazardous waste from Learjet painting operations. United States Air Force Reserve: Bioenvironmental Engineering

McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas 1988-1998

Part-time position classified as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA). Requirements included working with active duty counterparts a minimum of 24 days per year. Primary purpose was to provide mobilized support to active duty in the event of a national emergency. Selected achievements included:

Identified and developed a Radiation Control Program involving Alpha Radiation associated with Military Aircraft displayed on Military Installations worldwide. Program prevented radiation exposure to military/non-military persons and saved millions of dollars in adverse health effects and lawsuits.

Recalled to Active Duty in January 1991 in support of Desert Storm. Duties required EHS support of all EHS functions associated with the largest medical and training complexes in the United States Air Force. Led a team of 15 personnel supplying EHS services to a military population of 7,500 personnel assigned to war and non-war efforts.

Provided advanced level EHS training to active duty personnel. Topics included industrial waste management, industrial hygiene, and environmental sustainability activities to include reduce/reuse programs involving hazardous and non-hazardous materials on the four largest military installations across the State of Kansas.

Provided advice, guidance and management of the successful removal, recycling, and reclamation of bullet traps from an outdoor firing range. Developed a program in conjunction with the EPA, to control future lead contamination to the surrounding environment and routine reclamation of lead bullets. McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas 1985-1988

Responsibilities included leading, managing and supervising two remote EHS teams and one local team to identify, evaluate, manage, and report all EHS aspects and programs for four military installations and 18 Titan II Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Sites across the State of Kansas. Significant accomplishments:

Hand picked by Strategic Air Command (SAC) to provide EHS support for the deactivation of 18 Titan II Missile complexes after a fire erupted in one silo following a fuel download. Tasks included providing observation and support (routine and emergency response) to develop, implement, coordinate, and manage dismantlement of each missile complex including de-fueling, removal of nuclear warhead, dismantlement and salvage operations. Provided expertise and leadership to ensure salvageable metals and equipment were recycled and/or reused as appropriate to support Sustainable Development by providing excess equipment to third world countries.

Provided EHS support including Sustainable Development for the deactivation of F-4 Fighter Aircraft, activation and deactivation of B1B Bomber Aircraft, activation of F-16 Fighter Aircraft, and engine conversion of KC-135R Refueling Aircraft. Various support activities included demolition/renovation and new construction of facilities to support the various weapon systems, design of hazardous materials/waste programs, and Sustainable Development programs designed to limit the EHS impact to the installations and surrounding communities.

Developed and implemented asbestos inspection program for all facilities. Program saved millions of dollars during renovation/demolition of facilities by alerting construction contractors of the materials prior to their activities thereby preventing unnecessary fines/penalties/bad public relations and unprotected asbestos exposure. This program allowed contractors to remove the asbestos in a safe manner minimizing exposure to workers and release to the outside air of cancerous asbestos fibers. Innovative program was regarded as best in Air Force.

Provided EHS support following a tornado that ripped through the installation destroying nine major facilities including the base hospital. The tornado resulted in the spending of $55 million to repair and replace facilities.

Coordinated and responded to one of the first major environmental inspections of a military facility by EPA and the State of Kansas Environmental Compliance Inspectors. Results included development of Best Management Practices (BMPs) that were modeled by military facilities around the world.

Royal Air Force Base, Upper Heyford, England 1982-1985

Responsibilities included development and implementation of industrial hygiene, radiation protection, chemical sampling and environmental monitoring/management programs for 250 industrial shops and operations at 5 American and 4 European Air Bases. Significant accomplishments:

Provided EHS support for the construction of a 40 bed hospital. Support included design of systems to provide for the use, disposal and recycling of waste materials, chemical and biological and industrial hygiene programs to protect employees. Worked with 20th Medical Group to prepare a contingency hospital complex which was subsequently put into action during Desert Storm. Complex was designed to support up to 5,000 augmenting personnel and an anticipated 2,000 patients and consisted of hospitals located in RAF Bicester, RAF Little Rissington, and RAF Croughton.

Led EHS teams in activities involving upgrade of facilities and EHS programs to support the activation of the EF-111 Communication Aircraft and four other flying squadrons, communication/listening post organizations, and a nuclear weapons depot.

Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas 1978-1982

Responsible for providing EHS services including Sustainable Development of the largest Air Force Medical Facility in the world. Other responsibilities included providing EHS support for the largest Officer and Enlisted training facility world wide. Significant accomplishments during this 3 year period included:

Worked in conjunction with architects and engineers on a $95 million expansion of Wilford Hall Medical Center. Work included identification of opportunities to include significant EHS systems to control hazardous waste produced in typical hospital operations and control potential health hazards inherent in medical environments. Significant systems included waste water control, ethylene oxide control systems and scavenging systems to gather and dispose of waste anesthetic gas. Procedures developed were subsequently used as a guideline by OSHA and ASRAE to supplement its regulation and guidelines of ethylene oxide and waste anesthetic gas.

Designed, implemented and managed the largest Radiation Safety Program in the United States Air Force. Program included protection from exotic x-ray systems and nuclear medicine operations used in medical treatment. Waste disposal systems for radioactive materials were developed, designed and managed which exceeded all state-of-the-art requirements during that time. Procedures were adopted Air Force wide.
