Employee Opinion Survey System (EOS): Currently developingan

EOS System for the largest insurance company in the United

States. Employees take the surveys using a web browser and

the responses are tracked in the EOS Database. Managers can

view the response reports using the web. Responsible for

gathering the requirements and developing the data model using

ER-WIN and developing stored procedures in SQL Server.

Corporate Intranet Training Repository (CITR): CITR is an

intranet based training system for authoring training material

and viewing the training material. Authors of training material

use an authoring station to develop lectures and topics.

Publishers use a publishing station to organize the chapters

and topics into books and publish these books. Trainees can

view these books and take exams using a play back station.

This system was developed on Windows NT and MS SQL Server using

Visual C++ and Visual Basic. Responsible for gathering the

requirements and developing the data model (logical & physical)

using ER-WIN and implementing the data model in SQL Server.

Caterpillar Marine Systems.

Information System (SIS) users include Information Integrators,

Editors, Authors and Translators. The Work Flow Manager

coordinates the flow of work and resources from one group of

users to another group of users. Implementation of this project

involved designing the database, developing the Work Flow using

the KI shell Work Flow Manager Tool, extensive Unix Network

Programming, Unix shell programming, and integrating a number

of different software into the Work Flow.

Integrated Automated Machine Translation servers into the SIS

Authoring environment. This software accepts and routes

requests for translating documents, based on the priority of

clients and availability of translation servers. This toolwas

implemented using sockets, message queues and signal handlers

and it runs in an environment of approximately 200 networked

workstations. It is currently being used by the Technical

Information Division of Caterpillar and has completely

automated the job of translating documents for the authoring

department.
