COVER LETTER:

To whom it may concern,

My name is Ian Loyd. I am currently seeking employment as Creative Director. My specialties are design, animation and sound design for entertainment and gaming properties. Although I have worked mostly on web based projects, my experience includes games, applications, motion graphics, screensavers, video and sound design for projects ranging from web sites and trade show reels to online multiplayer games and kiosks. I have included some URL's, although a large portion of my portfolio is offline or has yet to launch to the public. Presently, I reside in the Burbank area and I am seeking full-time and freelance opportunities. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Ian Loyd

OBJECTIVE:

My career objective is to integrate compelling design with technology to exceed client and user expectations.

EXPERIENCE:

Creative Director / Curious Oranj + Manifest Oranj (3.2008 2.2010)

As the Creative Director, I run the shop. From creative direction to project management, everything that is delivered goes through me. In the short time that I have been with the company, I have successfully launched Dreamworks Animation s Kung Fu Panda: Po s Kung Fu Challenge Online Multiplayer Game campaign (to great accolade from the public) as well as the Madagascar 2 web site. In addition, I have been able to build the company s secure client intranet as well as some processes to facilitate efficiency. Most of my time is spent developing creative direction, concept and content writing - all while keeping a close watch on current projects.

Senior UX Designer / IdentityMine (11.2007 3.2008)

My brief stint at IdentityMine was marked by a series of successful projects including Bill Gates 2008 CES Keynote Showcase for Microsoft Surface as well as Blockbuster MovieLink. As the senior in house designer, I handled projects large and small, both independently and with larger, sometimes international teams. I also co-wrote concepts for proposals involving Microsoft s Surface (multi touch) technology. I also designed the first ever game for Microsoft Surface: . As my skills as a potential Creative Director became clear, IdentityMine offered to bring me on as CD if I was willing to relocate to Tacoma. While this was an interesting proposition, I felt it was necessary to stay in Los Angeles. I still regard the company highly and still have good friends there.

Art Director / Tuesday Creative (12.2006 11.2007)

As the sole Art Director at Tuesday, I have been able to work with clients such as Disney, BVHE, BVTV, Universal Studios and others. My responsibilities include creative and art direction, strategy, design and team management. I am also involved with new technology research such as Apollo, Silverlight, Blend and anything else that looks viable and useful for future work. To that end, I have also worked closely with Tuesday s Senior Developer to develop a number of application ideas. While working at Tuesday, I was able to design and launch two major sites: DisneyBluray.com and JungleBookDVD.com the latter being a Gold winner for the W3 awards in 2007. In addition, I have been directing TV and print projects for Universal to great accolade from the client. In this role, I continue to push the designers and myself to achieve stronger work and raise the bar at every opportunity.

Art Director, Deadline Advertising (8.2005 12.2006)

In this fast-paced environment my duties as Art Director included concept, design, animation, programming, sound design, project management, team management, photography, research and development, QA, and client communication. Recently, Deadline won 3 awards for the Sony SPTI Website that I designed and Art Directed. Other clients also include Disney, Sony Playstation 3, BVHE, ANIMAX, SET, AXN, Universal Pictures, Vivendi Games, New Line Cinema and ABC. Some specific projects include Disney.com, Sony SPTI Networks, Pirates of the Caribbean Online, Casanova Official Site, How to Eat Fried Worms Official Site, Stay Alive Official Site, FlightPlan Official Site, The Guardian Official Site, The Break-Up Official Site and a number of online ad campaigns. Art Director/ Senior Flash Designer, The Aspect Group / Conductor (11.2004 7.2005)

As the in-house Art Director, I ve had the pleasure of working with some excellent clients such as Paramount Pictures, AXE and Atari. My role required me to own the creative vision on projects ranging from web sites, banner and email campaigns as well as B2B sales tools built entirely in flash with rich media integration. In addition to handling motion graphics, design and development in flash, I also managed a team of designers and programmers to ensure that the creative vision is retained throughout the phases of production.

Art Director/ Sr. Flash Designer, Agency.com (aka Red Sky Interactive) (9.2000 5.2004)

As an Art Director and the Senior Flash Designer at Agency.com, my duties included daily consulting on new business, research and development in the Flash MX actionscript environment, as well as design, animation and production on current projects. Agency.com's clients included Miller Lite, VISA, MGD, Coke, Sprite, Nike, Altoids, Sutter Home and many others. My most notable work is for the award winning Miller Lite Virtual Racing League, which supported over 1 million users and which has also generated a number of fan sites.

Flash Designer, Shockwave.com (3.2000 - 9.2000)

The well known entertainment portal has gained much press and praise for the content and design that my team created and/or supported. My projects included design and production of UI, daily Flash and Flash scripting, user help systems, templates, print collateral and marketing collateral. I have had the pleasure to be involved with projects ranging from games to shows and from front-end to stand-alone. RECOMMENDATIONS:

Ian is stellar Art Director with an endless supply of incredible ideas. His high energy, excellent style, and dedication to anything he is involved in makes him not only a pleasure to work with, but a guarantee your project will be a success!

-Paula Tade, Senior Producer, Tuesday Creative

Ian is one of the best art directors I've worked with in a long time. He has an amazing ability to nurture and extract the best work out of designers. He s a producer s dream come true because of his skills in managing long-term projects with a team of designers. Ian is also highly articulate and an excellent problem solver. He s also one of the coolest people I ve worked with to boot.

-Chy Lin, Design Supervisor/Blogger/Traffic Coordinator, Tuesday Creative

Without any reservation, I highly recommend Ian Loyd as a director of a design department, a graphic and interactive designer and as a sound designer and engineer. I have worked closely with Ian for the last two years for two different employers and have found his capabilities to be second to none. Ian has impressive history of successful products and campaigns, yet he is never content to sit on his laurels and ride the successes he has enjoyed. He continually pushes the envelope, driving himself and those around him to innovate in product development, conceptual development, branding, marketing and asset development. I can think of few other individuals I have had the privilege of working with that bring as much zeal and inspiration to each and every project. Ian is the type of director every creative team should have. He leads by setting a standard of excellence (his technical execution is never anything short of pixel-flawless), yet encourages his designers to develop their own skills, styles and vision, all the while satisfying the client's objectives for the project. Ian has lead teams consisting of both green-eared designers fresh out of school and veterans whose experience spans decades and he handles them all with inspiration, enthusiasm, dignity and professionalism. Though Ian never has any shortage of responsibilities and tasks, he consistently finds ways to excel in unexpected areas. Ian has contributed ways to optimize workflows between departments, conceptualized innovative new products, and managed projects outside of the responsibilities of his job title in times of need. If you create products and value innovation I can't recommend Ian more highly. Please feel free to contact me about this recommendation. Sincerely, Jason Cook, User Interface Architect

-Jason Cook, User Interface Architect, Tuesday Creative

Ian is amazing! He's totally thorough and one of the best problem solvers I've ever worked with. Time and time again, Ian has not only come through in a pinch, he's accomplished the impossible... He's a joy to work with, super fun, and is highly respected by everyone who works with him. And when you're sitting back blowing off steam, he'll recommend some amazing music to you... or just create a song on his own!

-Dan Simmons, Creative Director, Red Sky Interactive
