all aspects of designing original art for in -house and custom imprints, generating custom art and

creative needs for clients from small businesses and schools to international companies, web site

and internet development and marketing, and advertising/social media campaigns.

2001-2005, Restaurateur/Entrepreneur

Owned and Operated The Smokies Roast House and Piki Grill restaurants located in the

Hendersonville and Asheville regions of NC. Developed Roast House Ventures, Inc., as a

marketing base for several restaurant concepts to promote healthy, natural alterna tives to fast

food franchises in the fast-casual dining genre. Because the concepts were revolutionary,

everything was developed from the ground up - including recipes, food item manufacture,

component and bottling control, inventory calculations, commissary provisions, concept and

internet and social media marketing, advertising campaigns, packaging design, capitalization and

funding data, demography and stats for planning and franchising (FOC), architecture design and

footprints, nouveau cooking and food cost procedures, and several business plan constructs.

The concepts were ultimately licensed to private firms for further development.

1992-2001, Creative Consultant/Director

Worked in capacity as freelance artist and designer. I became a sought after Creative Director

Misc. Painted Objects (outsourced) for Executive Illustration and Design of Clearwater, Florida. Projects involved

package design, advertisements, product concept renditions, book and manual illustrations, sign

art, garment imprint art, logo designs, digital layouts and comps, and hand painted murals. I

worked in consultation with firms like Nutmeg Mills, Mikohn Gaming, Yesco, Manatee Graphics,

Days Inn, McDonalds Corporation, The Totally Fun Company, Bass Pro Shops, and others.

1985-1992, Executive Chef/F&B Management

From the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas to The Sheraton International in Orlando,

Duties included exacting numbers on monthly food costs, annual expenditures, P&L, overhead,

and inventory control, creating original menus, recipes, overseeing banq uet operations, catering,

and private functions. As well, became the house crafter of ice sculptures and custom cake

decorations. I served as Executive Chef for the Sheraton Airport Hotel and others. Additionally, I

have many years experience as Sous Chef and Saucier, general line cooking, and front room

management.

Created and implemented various art and marketing needs for Oro -Tech Industries, Inc., a multi-

million dollar R&D production facility founded to exploit the technologies of black powder

alternatives and products for primitive arms enthusiast's. Duties included trade show booth

designs, shareholder memos, OFC authoring, SEC understandings, show displays, story boards,

logo designs, copy writing, and original art for advertisements. Considered partly responsible for

helping to create "Cowboy Action" tournament shooting, participating in many events, and

featured in Guns Magazine - 1984, Guns and Ammo - 1987, and Shooting Times - 1984.
