Distribution and HRMS) and Development DBA for building custom
extensions to the system at this computer parts distribution company.
Performed data conversions, created new tables to encapsulate business
rules for special price agreements, promotions, volume sales and
commissions. Developed several new forms and reports as well as
customized standard reports some of which were interfaced with the
[12]Optio [13]Document Customization Server. Wrote PL/SQL programs to
generate [14]EDI transaction files for scheduled transmission to
[15]trading partners. Deployed Oracle Self-Service Web Applications
(Oracle Web Customers, Oracle Web Services, Oracle Web Employees) to
provide secure, self-service access to Oracle Applications in an
intranet/extranet environment. Master minded the e-commerce system
design architecture to integrate Oracle Applications with the

[17]Data Warehousing / Web Deployment at GSA
[18]RIS: This project primarily involved migration of the Regulatory
Information Systems (RIS) data warehouse from Model 204 mainframe to
Oracle RDBMS. In addition, the project work entailed deploying review
and error reports on the Web to enhance agencies' current access to
pertinent regulatory publications. Architected a thorough STAR schema
design using ERWin to consolidate M204 attributes. Analyzed system
requirements and wrote detailed functional specifications for data
migration. Created the RIS database and loaded data from M204. Wrote
batch jobs to automatically replicate Oracle with M204 data on a
nightly basis. Coded Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures to implement
security and to dynamically generate HTML forms for submitting report
requests. Helped debug complex reports developed using Reports 2.5.
More than 300 agency users are satisfied with the performance and ease
of use.
[19]TARGETS: Total Account Reconciliation and General Expense Tracking
System (TARGETS) was developed by the Northwest Region (Region 10) to
provide an automated record of financial obligations, adjustments and
pre-validations against the budget plans. Functioned as a DBA and
migrated the Region 10 TARGETS database to central office from a SCO
Unix environment to Windows NT4. Created database instances for 11
regions for nationwide deployment of TARGETS. Duties included
planning, establishing backup/recovery/failover schemes, tuning,
create database links to FMIS, loading data and provide production
support. Deployed the Developer/2000 1.5 forms and reports on the Web
using two load balanced WinFrame 1.7 servers. Resolved all problems
running the TARGETS application on WinFrame.
[20]TOPS: Deployed the Telecommunications Ordering and Pricing System
(TOPS) forms and reports on the Web using Developer/2000 1.5 and the
Cartridges provided with Developer/2000. Used Designer/2000 to fix
deficiencies in the TOPS data model.
Environment: Windows NT4 Server, WinFrame 1.7, Oracle 8.0, Oracle
WebServer 2.1, Developer/2000 1.5, PL/SQL, CGI, HTML, JavaScript,

[22]GlobeCast E-commerce using Oracle WebServer
Created heavy-duty PL/SQL procedures with embedded JavaScript, which
maintain orders for GlobeCast services. Assisted in reverse
engineering the existing database design into PowerDesignor and made
corrections to the logical and physical model as well as created the
ERD for the database. An order can be for domestic or international
services and is used to schedule and manage the daily broadcast
business of GlobeCast. The information captured provides the basis for
revenue generation and cost containment analysis. Customers are
required to have a current contract in the system. Wrote 100,000 lines
of code for the most difficult order entry screens for this Oracle
WebServer based e-commerce application. Also worked as and Oracle DBA
with functions including creating and administrating of databases,
loading data, creating database objects, users and tuning of queries.
Environment: Windows NT4 Server, Oracle 7.3, Oracle WebServer 2.1,

A recent legislature allows customers to change local telephone
companies. Worked as a web/database applications specialist at
networkMCI to provide for an intranet based solution and database
design. Completed thorough data modeling of the system using ERWin.
The database links with multiple Oracle 7.x databases. Developed the
Oracle WebServer 2.0 intranet front-end using HTML, CGI and PL/SQL
stored procedures.
[25]internetMCI - Automated Web Hosting Services
Worked as a technical specialist at InternetMCI for automated content
management, site/server monitoring and management, website reporting
using Netscape Servers. Worked relentlessly with JavaScript, Java,
JDBC, Oraperl, HTML, NSAPI and C. Worked on Java-Oracle database
connectivity using JDBC in a 3-tier architecture.
Environment: HP9000, HP-UX, Solaris 2.4, ERWin, Oracle 7.x, Oracle

[27]Platinum Plus Card Credit Line Increase Queue Database
An online system for on call immediate processing of credit line
increases for privileged Platinum credit card customers and 15 minutes
turnaround time for others. Redeveloped and optimized 4GL libraries
for forms and reports. Designed a database and wrote all programs for
this automatic processing of requests, and went production in 3
months. The system is expected to increase turnover by a few million
dollars.
Environment: HP-9000, HP-UX, Informix 5.0, Korn Shell, Perl 4

[29]Credit Card Imaging System
An image of credit card slips from all stores is stored in this
database. Re-engineered the Informix database and wrote programs to
add workflow capabilities. Images of slips come on tapes from imaging
vendors. Redid the crucial nightly tape load process in Perl to load
images into an Oracle 6.0 database flawlessly - resulting in a monthly
savings of $200,000 due to higher hit rate during image retrieval of
slips and lesser downtime.
[30]Freight Invoicing and Payment System
Ryder ships OfficeMax products to stores throughout the US. Designed a
database and loaded it with records from indexed sequential files
originally handled by COBOL programs. Wrote programs in 4GL and ESQL/C
for entry, maintenance, edit checks and reports - for invoices,
receipts and shipments. A maintenance 4GL program provides a 'cruise'
mode i.e. instead of the user having to painfully go through a million
records manually to correct errors if any, the program automatically
searches in the tree of tables -- master, detail and purchase orders,
looks for errors and pops up with an appropriate maintenance form
window only when manual correction is necessary.

support to NEC subsidiaries in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India,
Taiwan and Thailand. Involved in setting up a WWW site for NEC product
support and FAQ. Gained expertise in scripting Korn Shell and Perl, as
well as HTTPD configuration. Conducted product evaluation/benchmarking
of NEC and third party disk arrays, jukeboxes, DAT drives, QIC tape
drives for NEC MIPS-based servers and wrote HTML FAQs for them.
Environment: NEC Servers, SVR4.2, Informix 5.0, Oracle 6.0, Korn

[33]Government Security Systems Gateway
Independently designed and developed a high performance SCO Unix based
SNA gateway server between IBM MVS/ESA and NEC/ACOS-4/XVP using SNA
LU6.2 and TCP/IP protocols. Automatic LU recovery, fault tolerance,
network management, online monitoring and diagnostics, versatile
security, and dynamic configurability were key features of the server.
2 ministries in Singapore are presently using it.

MVS/ESA
[34]IRIS - Document Imaging System for Income Tax Returns
Involved in development of a client/server document imaging system for
the [35]Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS). Income Tax
Returns and letters are scanned by a high speed Fujitsu scanner to be
stored as blobs by C programs in a jukebox controlled by Informix. The
returns get OCRed using XDR from Recognition Software, workflow (from
Imageflow) gets created by C programs in the database depending on the
OCRed data to be routed to clerks. Plexus 4GL programs allow 4GL forms
for Windows to give different work to clerks. Wrote several 4GL and
ESQL/C programs to gather statistics on OCR.
