1. J2EE Blueprints

(Java Pet Store) From Dec 2000

Client : Sun Microsystems, CA, USA

Project Scope

Java Pet Store is an enterprise application from J2EE Blueprints program. This

application was designed and developed based on architectural recommendations, design

guidelines and best practices from J2EE Blueprints group of Sun Microsystems. The

architecture of this application conforms to the Model View Controller (MVC) architecture.

The Java PetStore internationalized and localized in Japanese language.

Responsibilities

1 J2EE Blueprints web site (http://java.sun.com/j2ee/blueprints) development using XML,

XSL, and XSLT languages.

2 Mini-app components development using J2EE technologies and answering the J2EE

developers questions in the J2EEBlueprints-interest mailing list.

3 Created Ant based build script to build/package J2EE EAR, JAR and WAR files.

4 Also responsible for deploying the Java Pet Store in different App servers (J2EE,

iPlanet) with different databases (Cloudscape, Oracle, Sybase) and Quality testing.

5 Designed and developed testing framework using JUnit/HttpUnit Java API.

6 Participated in Suns 2001 Worldwide Java Developer Conference at SFO-USA.

Environment: J2SE 1.3, J2EE RI Beta, EJB 1.1, Servlet 2.2, JSP 1.1, JavaMail, XML, JAXP

1.1, XSL, XSLT, Xalan-J 1.2, iPlanet App Server 6.0, iPlanet Web Server 4.1, LDAP, Ant,

CVS, Cloudscape, Oracle 8i, Sun Solaris

2. Electronic Products Integrated Company Setup (EPICS) Apr 2k - Nov 2K

Client :

Wells Fargo Bank, CA, USA

Project Scope

The Electronic Products Integrated Company Setup is a web-based application using J2EE

technologies, that supports customer setup for all products and services that will reside

on the Commercial Electronic Office to address Treasury Management product enrollment.

Historically, Treasury Management product implementation used a variety of systems to open

an account for wholesale customers and set up associated treasury management products and

services. The EPICS is designed to create a web-based platform that supports customer

setup for electronic products from a single user interface.

Architecture

Electronic Products Integrated Company Setup was designed as a thin-client enterprise

application using JSP Model II architecture (MVC). This architecture is a hybrid approach

for serving dynamic content, since it combines the use of both servlets and JSP. It takes

advantage of the predominant strengths of both technologies, u

sing JSP to generate the presentation layer and Servlets to perform process-intensive

tasks. The application business logic and system-level services are implemented in the EJB

layer. The Servlet uses Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) APIs to look up the EJB

components to execute the EPICS service APIs. Upon receiving the results, the Servlet

returns to the end user in JSP pages.

Responsibilities

1 Technical lead for a team of 4 developers responsible for development of Java Servlet

and JSP pages with Java Beans.

2 Design and implemented Administration, Account, Customer EJB components using IBM

Visual Age for Java.

3 Design and implemented classes to handling communication between Web and EJB layer.

4 Developed DAO, Factory modules using Stored Procedures to interact with back-end

databases using JDBC APIs.

Environment: JDK 1.1.7, JSDK 2.0, Java Servlet, JSP 0.9, EJB 1.1, XML, JAXP 1.0, Ant,

CVS, IBM Visual Age for Java 3.0, IBM WebSphere 3.0, Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6, HTML,

JavaScript, Compaq Non-Stop SQL, Windows NT

3. Java Server Pages (JSP) Sep 99 - Mar 2K

Client : Sun Microsystems, USA

Project Scope

Java Server Pages is a server side Java technology for controlling the content or

appearance of web pages through the use of Java Servlet, small programs that are specified

in the web page and run on the web server to modify the web pages before it is sent to the

user who requested it. The JSP technology produces dynamic web pages with server-side

scripting. The result is to separate your presentation logic (i.e. HTML code that defines

your web site structure and appearance) from your business logic (i.e. Java code that

access the database for information to display on the web site). Its a simplified, fast

way to create web pages that display dynamically generated content.

Responsibilities

Involved in developing the fully compatible function conformance kit, which includes the

verification and validation of the technology, provided by Sun Microsystems named JSP for

J2EE.

Technical lead for a team of 6 developers in SIP Technologies, contractor of Sun

Microsystems.

The JSP was tested using Tomcat, J2EE RI and WebLogic in Solaris, Windows NT platform

using JDK1.3Kestrel APIs.

Environment: JDK 1.3Kestrel, J2EE RI, JSP, Java Servlet, JSWDK (Tomcat Server), WebLogic,

HTML, JavaScript, Windows NT, Sun Solaris

4. Water Supply Automation System (WSAS) Feb 99 Aug 99

Client : CSA, Singapore

Project Scope

This project was designed and developed as a web based application using Java and CORBA

technology. The Water Supply Department of Public Utility Board of Singapore is in-charge

of providing connection to the newly built projects. This process involves the various

activities like Creation of job, Inspecting the site, approving the connection etc. to the

newly development projects.

Architecture

Water Supply Automation System was designed as a distributed application using CORBA as

middleware. The presentation layer was implemented using Java Servlets to generate the

HTML pages. The business logic was implemented as CORBA components using Visibroker for

Java as Object Request Broker (ORB). The database layer interacts with back-end database

using JDBC APIs.

Responsibilities

Developed CORBA components using Visibroker for Java and Java Servlet development to

handling communication between Web layer and CORBA components. Also developed DB access

module using stored procedure and user-input validations using Navigator JavaScript.

Environment: JDK 1.1.7, IBM WebSphere 2.0, Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6, CORBA,

Visibroker 3.3 for Java, Java Servlet, JSDK, HTML, JavaScript, Oracle 7.1, CSS, Windows NT
