Ajit Pandit has over 15 years of experience in the power and renewable energy

sector. His experience spans from understanding technical aspects of power systems to

financial modeling and valuation, from utility to consulting, from technology to

regulatory etc. He brings with him the regulatory perspective and is well versed with

risks and commercial arrangements associated with development, construction and

commissioning of various generation, transmission and distribution schemes. Ajit has

contributed immensely for the development of renewable energy sector in India. He is

recognised by the industry as expert on policy/regulatory matters concerning electricity

industry and renewable energy sector in particular.

He has assisted several Utilities, RE Developers and State Electricity Regulatory

Commissions in addressing regulatory issues influencing growth of renewable

energy sector in India. He has also been associated with variety of renewable energy

technologies such as wind energy, biomass power, bagasse based co-generation,

small hydel power and solar power for development of enabling regulatory and

policy framework for harnessing these RE sources. He has assisted Ministry of New

and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for development of Conceptual Framework for

Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) mechanism for India and also supported

Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) and Forum of Regulators

(FOR) for development of Procedures and framework for implementation of REC

mechanism in India . He has also assisted FOR for development of uniform

Renewable Energy Policy framework across States. He has also assisted CERC for

development of Norms and Regulations for Renewable Energy Tariff determination

which can act as guidelines for States across India. He has assisted Maharashtra

Electricity Regulatory Commission in development of innovative RPO Operating

framework during 2004 and subsequently for development of RPS Mechanism

within Maharashtra during 2006.

2006 An Approach Paper on long term development of renewable energy sources

and Renewable Purchase Specification (RPS) Regulations within

Maharashtra.
