Perform advanced clinical procedures and tests, including chemical, biological, immunologic and bacteriological tests.

Analyze samples of body fluids / cells, study the specimens and determine what chemical composition.

Perform blood matches for patients who require transfusions and analyze the drug levels in a patient's blood. Prepare lab specimens while noting any abnormalities.

Experience in using special immunohematology techniques such as enzyme treatment (papain/ficin), adsorptions, pre-warm technique, antibody neutralization (BGS/urine), elutions, antibody titers, removal of IgG coating antibody (chloroquine disphosphate/EGA), reticulocyte harvest and hypotonic wash.

Prepare component modifications for neonatal, exchange, intra-uterine and transfusions.

Knowledge of Regulatory Agency Requirements and Standard Operating Procedures: American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) standards for blood banks/transfusion services and American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) standards for tissue banking. Comply with CAP, FDA and state regulations. Write T.S. procedure manuals.

Extensive generalist experience in other clinical area and LIS systems:

o Perform abnormal RBC morphology, WBC differentials, body fluids, bone marrow preparation, retic counts, PT/PTT mixing studies and heparin assays.

o Perform testing and maintenance on the Expand Plus, Beckman Synchron CX series and LX20.

o Operate coulter instruments (LH750, STKS, MAX-M and JT-2), ACL, MLA 800/1000 and Clinitek 100/200 instruments.

Perform test design, maintenance and validation on the Western Star Lifeline (Mediware) and McKesson Horizon Blood Bank (Wyndgate Safetrace) computer systems.
