Air Permitting
- Completed multiple applications for air construction and operating permits from inception to issuance including
initial emission calculations, justification for changes, regulatory review, document preparation, collaboration
with permit writers and implementation of changes.
- Successfully eliminated a permit requirement to control venting emissions of facility equipment by designing,
planning and managing tank vent emissions testing saving approximately $500,000.
- Streamlined multiple data collection strategies to more effectively monitor surrogate environmental parameters
pursuant to air permit requirements.
- Completely re-designed existing emission calculations for an ethanol manufacturing facility to meet compliance
and to effectively model emissions related to potential changes to operations.
- Developed all reporting templates and completed Annual Certification of Compliance, Quarterly CEMS
Reporting and LDAR Semi-Annual Reports for an ethanol manufacturing facility including all data collection,
calculations, backup documentation and final report submission.
- Successfully demonstrated to regulators that new NESHAPS requirements did not apply to facility processes by
designing a sampling strategy and using analytical information to complete calculations saving the facility
approximately $200,000. The strategy was then used by others throughout the industry.
- Successfully submitted Title V Air Operating permit application for an ethanol production facility.
Water Permitting
- Successfully completed multiple NPDES Permit modifications that removed unnecessary or misapplied permit
requirements and subsequently reduced operating costs for the organization.
- Created an efficient DMR data collection and calculation system that eliminated duplication of effort by
multiple facility personnel and increased the accuracy of data.
- Teamed with the facility Lab Manager to develop a protocol and associated SOP fo r the collection of water
samples for NPDES compliance.
