vitamin-D levels and clinical depression incidence in individuals led me to investigate whether varying annual

sunshine hours (sunlight provides vitamin-D) across the UK produced a statistically significant geographical

variation in the prevalence of depressive illness. Economic and demographic data sources were used to adjust

for the known effects of wealth and social background. This gave me further experience in handling different

sources and types of data: health, climate, economic and demographic, and also in managing a large body of

work in an academically sound manner. It also helped developed my strong statistics and written argument

skills.

The University of Leeds: 2004-2007

topological data sources were used to build a layered model of land capability for four energy crops, and their

potential for exploitation.
