Park Naturalist
Collected and analyzes data of geological, hydrological, biological and
archaeological aspects of the park. Developed a data base for published
findings. Utilized ecological approach to park infrastructure. Developed
and implemented plans and procedures for the following projects: wetland
conservation, planting of hydrophilic plants, construction of trails-with
concentration on wetlands and geological aspects, Native American
cemeteries, lake corridors and riparian areas. Development and execution of
plans for walk bridges in forested emergent palustrine wetland of beaver
and white tail deer habitat area. Contacted and arranged volunteer groups
to maintain trails, nature center grounds, service projects and assist
environmental programs. Collected and analyzed rock, soil, archaeological
and biological samples for park construction and teaching aids for
programs. Prepared written and oral reports for directors and the public.
Directed and managed seasonal employees and volunteers for the Nature
Center. Created programs for park education for public and private groups.
Developed profile for interpretation of park region, in geology,
conservation, habitats, wildlife and events to interpret the natural
environment. Arranging and directed volunteer group assistance in the park
including; building trails, maintaining trails, painting camp ground
buildings, golf course and nature center grounds cleanup, cultural and lake
edge clean up service programs. The Nature Center presented nature programs
to over 2,000 people in 2010.
During the three and a half years employed at the park I maintained
cooperative efforts with the Corp of Engineers Archaeologist in 106
compliance surveys for park construction. Established relationship with
local colleges for invasive species eradication and white tail deer
monitoring.
Listed are entities of working relationships Three Forks Nature Center with
Oklahoma and other state governments, federal government and tribal
agencies:
* Oklahoma Wildlife Department (wildlife and habitats in the park)
* Northeastern State University; White Tail Deer Population, Invasive
Species
* Oklahoma Archaeological Survey (Native American Site in the park)
* US Fish and Wildlife (Raptor Permits)
* Oklahoma Geological Survey (Geo-tourism)
* Army Corp of Engineers (dam data for park, construction of sensitive
areas in the park)

Act) CWA and Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations for new road
construction. Prepared and written reports findings of research of
geologic, hydrologic, soils and water quality data and recommendations for
engineers, designers and project supervisors. Coordinated interdisciplinary
teams in the development of NEPA compliance issues. Carried out study
procedures utilizing Ground Penetrating Radar for anomalies effecting
geological, historical and archaeological significant sites.
Utilizing laboratory analysis for soil and water samples determined mineral
content of sample and water quality. Determined appropriate sampling and
test procedures for water, soil and rock samples. Preparation of erosion
control and storm water runoff plans. Developed wetlands management plans
and for construction. Consulted on bridge construction- geologic,
hydrologic and environmental aspects. Selected appropriate environmental
guidelines and determined legal, tribal, state and federal regulatory
guidelines for each construction project. Executed investigations of
ongoing projects to assure regulatory compliance on storm water and erosion
protection. Protection of riparian areas during the construction phase as
well as endangered species and wildlife habitat protection. Utilization of
Best Management Procedures for the construction process. Prepared
Environmental Assessments and Categorical Exclusions for Federal and Tribal
compliance. Worked as a team with engineers, designers and inspectors
within the agency as well as outside entities and tribes with land
interest, USFWS, SHPO and Oklahoma Department of Wildlife.
