Lead the transformation of one of the most impacted and diverse high schools in Montgomery County, Maryland. Established a shared cluster vision and direction for 5,000 students in the Kennedy cluster by organizing and facilitating 6 cluster elementary and secondary schools. Provide expert direction to daily operations of the school with more than 1800 students. Administer and coordinate various programs of the school, including International Baccalaureate, Cambridge Program, Leadership Training Institute, Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC), Health Careers and Physical Therapy Academy, Media Communications Academy, Creative Multimedia Academy, College Institute, School-Community-Based (SCB) special education program, Learning for Independence (LFI) special education program, as well as learning and academic disabilities program.

Presided over school operations during the time when student enrollment was approximately 705 and was drastically declining from the previous year. Directed and facilitated the application and authorization of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) from grade 6 – 10. Organized and carried out both special education and English-language learners (ELL) programs.

Key Contributions:

- Successfully increased the total student enrollment by 200 students from school year 2005 – 2008.

- Significantly boosted grade 8 student enrollment rate in Algebra I from 29% to 90% from 2005 to 2009.

- Fulfilled an instrumental role in attaining an increase of 30 percentage points in the number of students who successfully completed Algebra I from 2005 to 2007.

- Led efforts in improving academic achievement of African American and Hispanic students entitled for free and reduced meals (FARMs) as well as English-language learners (ELLs) and special education subgroups by 30 percentage points in the area of mathematics, from 45% to 75%, on the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) in one year.

- Systematically implemented the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system, resulting in a decrease in student suspension by 50% in 2007; 60% in 2008; and 62% in 2009.

- Instigated a well-planned strategy that reduced ineligibility from 33% to 7%.

- Brought an 85% increase in parent attendance and participation in PTSA meetings within 1 year through the “Family Night” initiative.

- Led and managed the planning, design, and implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) at the middle and high school levels.

- Galvanized resources for IB MYP by forming long-term business partnerships with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other non-profit organizations.
