Business development specialists are accountable for gathering data
regarding their customers' markets. They conduct intensive research
pertaining to channel development, product development, and product
distribution. Business development specialists assist their marketing
departments and help to develop new business strategies, conduct market
analysis, and develop new and improved methods for marketing products
through various new and traditional media.
Senior Director of Public Policy, Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of
Commerce (3/07 - 9/10)
Responsible for program development and management of activities focused on
civic engagement and small business advocacy in local, regional and
statewide arenas. Deliverables include annual study mission, ongoing
community convening's on issues pertinent to economic development and small
business; and advocacy with city and county agencies on behalf of chamber
members. Position includes oversight of $300,000 annual budget.
Director, Rancho Cordova Regional Economic Development Corporation (1/05 -
3/07)
Responsible for oversight and implementation of a five-year fundraising
initiative (Momentum 2010). Duties included advocacy for public policies
and processes conducive to capital investment, job creation and retention
in the Highway 50 Corridor. Formatted and submitted relevant data
regarding the City of Rancho Cordova and the Hwy 50 corridor and all its
diverse entities to the City of Rancho Cordova City Council quarterly.
Continued to upgrade RCREDC's competitiveness in the regional, state and
national marketplace for new business opportunities.
Director, Rancho Cordova Business Information Center (1/04 - 1/05)
Responsible for coordination and operation of the Rancho Cordova Business
Information Center. Duties included providing information, training and
technical assistance to new and existing businesses in Rancho Cordova and
Sacramento community. Responsible of marketing the Rancho Cordova Library.
Work very closely with the Chambers to provide existing members with
educational workshops to assist in business growth.
Program Manager, Asian Resources, Inc. (8/02 - 1/04)
Responsible for overseeing the implementation of all CalWORKs related
programs. Duties included sales training and supervision and evaluation of
staff to meet the company standards. Conducted quarterly surveys and
developed Quality Assurance Program for all services. Assured full
compliance of guidelines and regulations, as they relate to the various
programs, including monitoring, review, program eligibility, and
availability of services. Represented the Asian Resources at Sacramento
Works for Better Health (SWBH) meetings, workshops and any program
development that was needed.
Program Manager, PRIDE Industries (8/00 - 8/03)
Responsible for the execution of the Governor's 15% grant for the Welfare
to Work program and a $999,999 budget. Duties included the supervision of
case managers and administrative support personnel (seven total); also
responsible for fiscal accounting, personnel actions, and client
counseling.
Program Coordinator, City of Sacramento Neighborhood, Planning and
Development Service Department (1/99 - 8/00)
Served as assistant to the Superintendent. Responsible for the supervision
and coordination of numerous programs that included the snack, mentor, and
attendance programs of 40 local schools. Responsible for the management of
the associated $500,000 annual budget.
