(English for Global Citizenship). A textbook and teacher's manual will

be published this year based on this anthology.

. Established a reading program to aid Japanese school children gain

literacy and mastery of English as a foreign language. This was

complemented with a highly communicative approach to language learning

and instruction.

. Pioneered the teaching of English for Social Justice. The course aimed

to increase student awareness of social and global issues. A paper

presentation and workshop on this practice was presented in an

international conference on language learning in Cambodia. A student

performance portfolio was produced afterwards.

. Intensified the integration of different subject areas in the study of

language and literature, giving students the chance to relate and

assimilate information from different fields of study.

. Developed teaching aids using different forms of media to help

students retain information discussed in the classroom, a study of

which was later on presented and demonstrated in an international

conference for language teachers in Thailand.

. Served as a pastoral visitor to the sick at Launceston General

Hospital, Tasmania

. Strengthened literacy skills among primary school children in St Finn

Barr's Catholic school in Tasmania as a reading tutor

. Helped secondary students achieve academic goals at the Migrant

Resource Centre in Launceston, TAS as a homework help tutor

. Taught street children values, hygiene, and basic academic subjects in

Lingap Center (now Tuloy Don Bosco, Muntinlupa, Philippines)

. Initiated a tutorial program for underprivileged youth through the

Miriam College High School Social Action Program

. Trained student volunteers to implement an individualized reading

tutorial program for public school students; (Miriam College High

School Social Action Program, Quezon City, Philippines)

. Coached university students in writing and presenting papers on social

global issues. The papers were then presented at the International

UNIV Congress held annually in Rome, Italy.

. Coordinated gift giving activities to the poor in the slums of Jakarta
