Arizona State University, Tempe GPA: 3.32/4.00

• Bachelor of Engineering, Chemical. May 2010

University of Mumbai, India. GPA: 3.5/4.00

RELATED COURSEWORK:

• Graduate: Material Characterization Lab, Thermodynamics, Matlab for Chemical Engineers, Biochemical Engineering,

Inorganic Membranes and Films, Nanobiotechnology, Microbial Fuel Cells, Six Sigma Methodology.

• Undergraduate: Material Science, Polymer Engineering, Fabrication Technology.

RESEARCH:

• Graduate Research Student: MS Thesis on Desalination & Water Treatment Dec 2012

Topic: Impact of Hydrophilic Poly Vinyl Alcohol on support side of thin film composite membranes

- Preparing Polysulfone Membranes and testing them in Forward (FO) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems.

- Coating of hydrophilic Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) polymer on membranes, varying preparatory conditions and testing flux

and rejection of neat and modified membranes (using LABVIEW), enabling use of RO membranes in FO.

- Implementing various Material Characterization Techniques like FTIR, SEM, and Contact Angle Measurement.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

TECHNICAL:

• Chemical Engineering Intern, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., Mumbai, India. May 2010

- Designed and modeled components of a unit operation obtaining LPG from Natural Gas using Aspen HYSYS software.

- Estimated cost of the LPG production process and other byproducts.

- Produced heat and material balance and generated PFD and P&ID of the designed system.

TEACHING:

• Teaching Assistant: Unit Operations Lab, Chemical Engineering, Arizona State University Dec 2012

- Taught and assisted Heat Exchanger Control, Cooling Towers, Bioreactor, etc. experiments to a class of 70 students.

• Teaching Assistant: Department of Physics, Arizona State University. May 2012

- Guided and mentored Undergraduate Students with concepts of electricity and magnetism.

• Tutor: Math and Chemistry, School of Nursing, Arizona State University. Dec 2011

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

C, C++, Visual Basic, HTML, MS Office, Matlab, Aspen HYSYS, ProMax, JMP, MiniTab, Six Sigma Greenbelt,

AUTOCAD, Microsoft Windows (all versions), MAC OS, LINUX .

ACADEMIC PROJECTS & PRESENTATIONS:

• Sensitivity Analysis of Microfiltration Membranes :

Successfully implemented project using MATLAB (PDE/ODE) toolbox. Implemented Model was robust and took into

account most theoretical nuances of the cleaning process, with the exception of the effect of pressure drop on membranes.

• Using Six Sigma Process Tools (DMAIC Process) to design a catapult hitting a desired target – Use of 25-2, 24-1factorial

design, linear regression models in JMP software to see the effect of different input variables.

• Trouble Shooting in Propane Recovery Tower:

Diagnosed the causes of it in distillation tower and the solution were presented in a seminar at OYCE Awards for

CHEMCON 2008. (Annual meet of Chemical Engineers, Mumbai, India)

• Self Healing Polymer Coatings:

Using macro vascular concept to engineer damage tolerant materials.

• Polymer Solar Cells:

Participated in a Paper Review on how the performance of energy source was improved in terms of output voltage.

• Quantum Dots:

Presented on properties and applications in imaging and sensing devices. Studied how they are efficient nano particle

delivery systems, help in drug effectiveness and cell and tissue specific targeting.

• Successfully designed a project where in refrigeration system was made to work based on exchange of energy between micro

porous and macro porous membrane.

ACTIVITIES:

• Completed 2 levels of German (Deutsch) from The Goethe Institute of Germany, Max Muller Bhavan, India.

• Event Coordinator for Technical Festival for DMCE- IIChE- Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers-2008.
