EXPERIENCE

Contract Engineering (December 2009 to May 2009)

Quality Engineer:

Responsible to my customer to assure successful implementation and PPAP approval under TS-16949 Quality Systems

standards on all products that are deemed by my customer as required.

Designed and created all test methods and test equipment as required by the customers specifications and drawings.

Galion LLC (April 2004 – November 2009)

Quality Manager:

Supplier Quality Engineering responsibilities were among my most important duties as Quality Manager at Galion. I was

responsible for all incoming materials from all of the suppliers of steels, aluminums and brass used in the manufacturing of

our products. This included researching the customer’s drawings and specifications and establishing the parameters for

those materials, both at the supplier’s location, and our receiving dock. I did regular visits to our supplier base to assure

conformance and understanding of the parameters that they were to operate to.

If there were problems with the material, I worked directly with the suppliers to do Root Cause Analysis to find the

problems quickly and efficiently and then correct those problems. Utilizing my Six Sigma Green Belt training I helped my

suppliers gain opportunities that otherwise would have been missed to make a better product for a lower cost. This also

included doing Design Of Experiments with the suppliers to open up opportunities for improvement not only with the

supplier base, but the entire manufacturing chain.

Responsible for the successful implementation and recertification of ISO-9000/2000 Quality System as well as maintaining

a high level of compliancy to AS-9100 Aerospace and various military and ANSI specifications while managing a 16

person, 3 shift department that was certified under ISO-9001/2000.

Responsible for the annual departmental budget, as well as the procurement of test equipment and personnel as required

by customer bookings and specific job requirements.

Implemented processes to maintain accurate control for all specified quality standards for the aluminum and steels utilized

by each particular customer. This included a thorough review of the chemical analysis, physical dimensioning at the time

the material was received, testing for hardness, hydrogen embrittlement, induction heat treating as well as annealing of

materials, and established process controls and regular quality audits of the suppliers with on-site visits.

Created and maintained a real time tracking system for Corrective Actions, Cost of Quality, Preventative Actions, Pieces

per Labor Hour, and Internal/External Parts Per Million losses via an advanced television monitoring system that was

viewed throughout the production floor.

Implemented and managed a cross training program that saved thousands of dollars in overtime and missed opportunities.

Utilizing my Six Sigma Green Belt training I implemented and managed a shop wide 5S program that saved thousands of

dollars in cleaning, materials, labor and accident prevention.

Responsible for maintaining the Chemical Laboratory and providing government required chemical analysis of phosphate

coating process.
