Brush Turbogenerators are the largest manugacturer of turbogenerators for steam and gas applications in the world, with high powered Synchrosius motors, and 2 and 4 pole turbogenerators. In Australia, at the Glenmaggie Dam, a replacement excitation system for a 3.8MW hydro-electric generator was installed, which is just one example of many global contracts.
DUTIES
Working from detailed technical drawings to produce a high quality component to be used in the assembly of turbogenerators.
Performing welding tests on 6-10mm plater (mild steel)
Heavy gauge welding for other turbogenerator components
Operation of Overhead Crane
Press Brake operation
Coded MIG welding and Flux Core (FCAW) welding on components
Assisting other team members by working extra hours/ shifts in order to get components and projects ready within timescales.
Working on own initiative, and practising safety awareness issues at all times

Operating as a member of a highly skilled team of coded welders for the contract
Fabricate, install, and repair a full 27 metre carousel undersea cable-laying system.
Performing welding tests on 6mm-10mm all positional/ and vertical-up positional.
Welding ceramic tiles on to back of plate.
On-site contract involved being away from home for 3 months.
