Professional Experience

corporate responsibility for overseeing Phase II program for
firm's largest client, with Phase II projects nationwide
grossing roughly $4M per year. Responsible as lead client
contact, coordination of projects among offices, tracking
progress and ensuring quality of work, soliciting and preparing
proposals for new work, as well as management of individual
projects, report preparation and/or review, data evaluation,
and developing strategies. Prepared well over 100 detailed
proposals in past six months alone, all within 48-hour
turnaround times and with high success rate. Projects managed
have included Phase II evaluation of various media (soil,
groundwater and soil vapor) at wide range of properties,
including manufacturing facilities, gasoline stations, auto
repair facilities, commercial properties, large residential
developments, etc. Most project work associated with large
financial institutions for time-sensitive transactions,
requiring completion of work on budget and within tight
deadlines. In addition to the Phase II work above, many
projects included evaluation of mold, asbestos, lead-based
paint, radon, erosion/sediment control, and potential impacts
from historic pesticide/herbicide use. Many projects part of
multi-site portfolios. Conducted extensive literature/file
reviews of large ongoing or completed projects to evaluate
technical adequacy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Also occasionally assisted, as needed, with review of Phase I
reports for multi-site nationwide portfolios. Assisted with
due diligence review and likely future LSRP oversight of large
New Jersey Brownfields site, involving review of over 30 years
of prior investigations. Provided technical guidance and
assistance to staff throughout company and assisted with
development of procedures to increase efficiency and customer
satisfaction.

1999 - Roux Associates, Inc., West Deptford, NJ - Sr. Project Manager
2000 responsible for numerous projects involving investigation,
remediation and permitting under various state and federal
regulations. Responsibilities included project management,
budgeting, scheduling, supervision of project activities, data
analysis, computer modeling, report preparation, client
communication and interfacing with regulatory agencies and
third parties. Projects included large chemical release in
West Virginia, evaluation of claims for nearly one billion
dollars in claims for environmental damages, gasoline release
at major refinery, and numerous other projects.

witness for several multi-million dollar lawsuits involving
groundwater contamination. Prepared report in accordance with
Act 2 using computer model to justify natural attenuation at
Pennsylvania hydrocarbon-release site.
1996 - Earth Science Consultants, Inc., Blue Bell, Pennsylvania - Sr.
1996: Project Manager responsible for overall management of several
projects. Primary responsibility was management of large RCRA
Facility Investigation at abandoned industrial property along
the Delaware River. Led interdisciplinary/multi-company team
through planning and implementation of $7M RFI. Other
responsibilities included management of miscellaneous
investigation and remediation projects, Phase I Environmental
Site Assessments, and permitting assistance. Also responsible
for several projects involving third-party review and forensic
investigations for insurance company. (This position was a
temporary one. Though asked to be office manager after hire, I
declined to pursue continuing education.)
1992 - Leggette, Brashears & Graham, Inc., Exton, Pennsylvania -
1995: Associate and Office Manager responsible for overall technical,
marketing, and administrative activities of regional office of
national hydrogeological and environmental consulting firm.
Turned-around profitability of office which had been losing
over $150K per year before being hired. Won several major
contracts involving multiple-site portfolios. Successfully
directed expedited Phase II site assessments of 21 large
service stations as part of real-estate transfer. Expanded
client base and scope of services. Increased staff from 3 to 13
people. Identified supplementary water source for major utility
and successfully proposed innovative water-storage project.
Other projects included numerous soil and ground-water
contamination investigations and remediations, risk
assessments, Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments, UST
Closures for major corporations, real-estate companies, lending
institutions, and insurance companies. Also conducted numerous
groundwater supply studies for municipalities and utility
companies. Many projects entailed use of computer modeling.
1987 - Unisys Corporation, Paoli, Pennsylvania - Project Manager and
1992: Principal Hydrogeologist with Corporate Environmental Affairs
Department. Primary responsibilities were management of
numerous projects involving investigation and remediation of
soil and ground-water contamination regulated under RCRA and
CERCLA. Directed multi-party team through RFI and CMS in
Missouri with lifetime cost estimated at $ lOOM. Also directed
$50M Superfund project involving groundwater contamination on
Long Island. Successfully led negotiations for company in
multiple-PRP Superfund sites. Led design and construction of
innovative remediation systems, including dual-phase extraction
system in Michigan. Oversaw investigation and remediation of
$7M cleanup in New Jersey and led negotiations with state and
local authorities, off-site residents, and buyer. Project
entailed use of risk assessment before it became a well-known
approach. Overall job responsibilities included extensive
direct interaction with various regulatory agencies, third
parties, and senior management. Also helped develop programs,
policies, and in-house technical capabilities, including
streamlining of purchasing and procurement. Developed national
laboratory services program which resulted in estimated $2M per
year savings. Awarded Distinguished Employee Award twice. Also
conducted training of in-house staff, compliance audits,
asbestos abatement, audits of hazardous waste facilities, and
implementation of various corporate initiatives.
1983 - Geraghty & Miller, Inc., Plainview, New York - Hydrogeologist
1987: responsible for various activities, such as: collection of
ground-water, soil, and sediment samples; installation and
operation of ground-water remediation systems; aquifer testing;
surface geophysics (magnetic, electrical resistivity, seismic);
report preparation. Directed field teams during numerous
investigations at multi-million dollar CERCLA and RCRA
nationwide. Trained in-house personnel and developed policies
and procedures for standardized work practices. Installed and
operated innovative groundwater remediation systems, including:
system for recovery of DNAPL at PCB Superfund site in
Massachusetts; combined system involving pump-and-treat,
air-sparging, bioremediation, and vapor-phase extraction for
hydrocarbons in Pennsylvania; and collection of low-pH water at
New Jersey refinery. Successfully conducted high-quality and
cost-effective Superfund investigation for major corporation at
manufacturing plant in Tennessee, resulting in being recruited
by client.
