Administrative Assistant Senior (Chair's Assistant) (February 2008-

October 2011)

Serve as primary administrative support to the Chair of Biomedical

Engineering. Responsibilities

include calendar maintenance, faculty administration, and event

planning. Primary support for faculty reappointment casebooks and

promotion/tenure casebooks. Primary support for faculty hiring,

including posting of advertisements, application maintenance, and

visit coordination. Maintain CTools site to manage faculty

applications. Manage joint appointments for outside faculty.

Maintain database of current joint appointments and renewal dates.

Schedule and staff faculty meetings, retreats, and advisory board

meetings, including preparing materials, taking minutes, and creating

appropriate reports. Support BME Executive Committee. Schedule

events involving BME students, faculty, and alumni, including BME's

part in Michigan Engineering Homecoming Weekend and Welcome Back

events. Coordinate and design publications such as newsletters and

brochures. Maintain alumni database. Supervise work study students.

Assist with special projects within Biomedical Engineering as needed.

2002)

Academic Secretary III (January 2002-July 2002)

Serve as primary contact and provide administrative support for the

Pathology Department's contributions to the M.D. training program and

assistance to the Pathology Graduate Program. Maintain materials for

Medical School courses. Schedule instructors and residents to teach,

distribute teaching materials, coordinate lab exams, administer make-up

exams, collect student evaluation data and generate reports on the data.

Coordinate the departmental research seminar series. Assist Pathology

Student Services Assistant with the Pathology Graduate Program and serve as

backup for Graduate Program, including interacting with Rackham School of

Graduate Studies, the Office of the Registrar, and the Program in

Biomedical Sciences. Handle questions regarding the Pathology Ph.D.

program, M.D. training program, and faculty research activities. Keep

accurate records of IRB proposals, UCUCA applications, and RSS101

applications, as well as up-to-date NIH biosketches and CVs. Coordinate

grant and manuscript submissions.

the coordination of the educational programs for both the medical

filing systems. Prepare examinations, slide trays, and class

handouts. Coordinate scientific journal manuscripts. Coordinate

grant submissions and CME credit. Create and maintain several

databases and spreadsheets. Perform routine office duties such as

transcription, word processing, answering phones.
