ACHIEVEMENTS
Public Relations Manager for the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. Developed the
association’s strategic plan website and wrote the press release announcing the new organizational identity program.
I ran the press room at the annual Food & Nutrition Conference and Expo at McCormick Place in Chicago. The Expo
is the world’s largest gathering of food and nutrition professionals. In the press room, I arranged interviews for media
members with the American Dietetic Association’s 30 national media spokespersons and secured access for print and
broadcast media members to the exhibition floor.
I wrote a press release on eating healthy on a budget that was picked up by national media in People magazine, the
Chicago Tribune, the Orlando Sentinel, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Times.
Public Relations Director and media liaison for a major Chicago prep school. During my 15 years as Public Relations
Director, the school's enrollment increased to become the largest all boys secondary school in the State of Illinois.
I designed via desktop publishing, the school’s parents’ newsletter, alumni newsletter and all advertising to local
media. I also handled media relations duties for the school.
Worked in conjunction with the Development Department, the Recruiting Director and the Alumni Director to
produce the school's annual report, recruitment literature and alumni publications.
Responsible for content and updating information on the school’s website, including alumni e mail addresses, sports
and academic achievements and news monitoring. I took and uploaded all photos to the site.
EXPERIENCE
Public Relations Manager, American Dietetic Association, Chicago, IL 2008 2009. Oversaw ADA’s “Eating Right
Minute” daily radio feature broadcast on WBBM 780, including script development and editing. Responsible for
writing consumer and media materials including ADA’s Tip of the Day and Monthly Feature for ADA’s website, NBC’s
network websites and the Fresh Grocer consumer publication. Wrote press releases about research published in the
Journal of the American Dietetic Association. Oversaw the development of the Public Relations team’s website.
Associate Editor for the quarterly ADA Times magazine. Planned and managed ADA’s annual Nutrition News Forecast
meeting and planned and managed press room activities at the association’s annual Food & Nutrition Conference and
Expo.
Public Relations Director, Brother Rice High School, Chicago, IL 1993 2007. Liaison to local media regarding
achievements of student body, including sports and academic accomplishments and faculty achievements.
Responsible for developing story ideas, gathering story information, writing press releases or feature story on subject,
taking all necessary pictures and relaying stories to media outlets. Also responsible for all external publications using
desktop publishing including alumni and parents’ newsletters, brochures on sports and academic programs, annual
reports, publicity of events and advertisements. Responsible for updating content on school’s web site. Duties also
included monitoring the image of the school. Responsible for public relations budget which included all advertising
for the school and production costs for publications. Worked with outside vendors and printers to produce
publications.
Director of Public Relations and Publications, St. Ignatius College Prep, Chicago, IL 1991 1992. Responsible for
design, layout, photography and a majority of the writing of a 20,000 circulation, 32 page quarterly alumni magazine
utilizing desktop publishing. Accountable for writing, editing and designing a monthly eight page bulletin for
teachers and parents of students. Designed school’s annual report to donors as well as various brochures, the school
handbook and the school calendar. Also wrote all press releases coming out of the school. In charge of publicity for
school activities, including benefits and fund raising events.
Editor, Corporate Communications, Gas Research Institute, Chicago, IL 1990 1991. Wrote departmental articles
for quarterly magazine detailing research activities at the organization. Also responsible for communicating all
information coming out of my beat area environment and safety research through departmental articles and in
writing news releases.

magazine from attending meetings, conventions and interviewing subjects on a national and international basis. Also
