Responsible for procurement of Construction Services, and
Architectural/ Engineering Services for Nissan Electric Vehicle
Project, that will total approximately $1.5 billion. Duties
include complete responsibility for bid and award process,
development and implementation of contract requirements/terms
and conditions, diversity supplier outreach activities, Davis-
Bacon Act compliance, scheduling and coordination with
engineering, legal, finance and other departments. Demonstrated
achievement in cost savings and value engineering.
Gulf Coast Energy, Inc. August 2006 - September 2009,
Owner/Executive Vice-President, Engineering and Construction
Gulf Coast Energy, Inc. is a start-up company in the arena of
manufacturing alternative fuel, producing ethanol fuel from wood
waste. Directed all design and construction operations for
GCE's pilot plant in Livingston. Managed the project from
inception to completion and on to start of production,
supporting the President and the Board of Directors. The pilot
plant project was started in December of 2007, with ASTM
certification of the first ever commercially sold wood-to-
ethanol product being achieved in March of 2009. Implemented
several value engineering initiatives to accommodate limited
project budget requirements due to start-up status.
Responsibilities for subsequent production operations include
directing plant production operators and laborers; procurement
of consumable materials, spare parts and continuous improvement
project materials; Development of all Q/C and testing laboratory
protocols, and directed all Q/C and Lab activities. Directly
involved in raising capital/seeking investors for funding of the
pilot and commercial project. Established GCE's safety protocol
and was directly responsible for all safety issues including:
establishing the company safety training system and manual;
employee and visitor safety orientation; conducting safety
meetings. Duties included obtaining building and environmental
permits and interfacing with city and state officials.
Also developed and organized the design/build team for
implementation of commercial scale projects. This included A/E
services, process design, architecture, site and civil work,
electrical work, controls and mechanical installations. The
design/build concept envisioned a modular construction technique
to facilitate relatively fast, reproducible design and
construction projects.
Mercedes-Benz US International, September 1996 - August 2006

Assembly Plant
Responsible for design and construction of all facilities
projects, including: directing civil, site utilities, structural
and architectural engineering, design and specifications;
oversight and coordination of mechanical, electrical, controls
and fire protection engineering/design; scheduling and cost
control; safety coordination on all projects; change order
management; interfacing with insurance carrier and coordination
of insurance requirements; all permitting and coordination with
associated officials; building commissioning and start-up; claim
resolution. Performed these activities as in-house construction
manager on all projects up to and including MBUSI's $9 million
child care and fitness center; oversight of construction manager
on all outsourced projects up to and including MBUSI's $600
million/2 million square foot expansion project.

Specific responsibilities included: design and implementation of
all field change orders; cost estimations on all field orders
and bulletins; interfacing with owner representatives on all A/E
issues; quality assurance oversight of all contractors and sub-
contractors; change order resolution and negotiation; schedule

Responsible for directing 10 to 30 engineering technicians and 3
to 5 geotechnical drilling crews including: site testing and
inspection of soils, concrete, steel erection and fabrication,
and site utilities; laboratory testing including soils analysis,
concrete compression testing, and various other material tests;
site logging of geotechnical soil boring samples; preparation of
engineering reports for materials testing and inspection and
geotechnical design recommendations. Additional duties include
P&L responsibility for geotechnical and materials testing
departments; marketing of services; cost control; hiring of
engineering technicians and drilling crews.

Responsible for inspection and testing of materials and
workmanship on Zilwaukee Bridge Project spanning the Zilwaukee
River. Specific duties included: inspection of forms,
reinforcing steel and concrete placement; laboratory concrete
compression strength testing; bridge segment fit and finish
inspection; aggregate inspection and DOT certification.
