Shore Educational Collaborative is a special needs school that provides services for behaviorally and academically

challenged students and adult clients in 3 sites and several satellite locations.

Network and Database Administrator (1/2004-Present)

Design, Develop, Manage, and Maintain MS SQL Server databases and MS Access Databases. Network and

Systems Administration of a Windows Active Directory network with remote locations, as well as Major

responsibilities and accomplishments include:

• Designed, developed, deployed, managed, and maintained an interactive HIPAA compliant SAAS

(Software As A Service - ShoreDoc.org), in Visual Basic 2003 with a SQL Server backend and hosted in Microsoft

IIS, to enable therapists and counselors to efficiently enter required Medicaid information for billing purposes.

ShoreDoc began based on Medicaid reporting requirements and only serviced school districts that Shore was

performing billing tasks for. It has grown into a product that other school districts and billers subscribe to.

• Designed, developed, deployed, and maintained databases for Quarterly MA employer tax reporting,

MARIS (MA Retirement Information System) reporting, EPIMS (Education Personnel Information Management

System) reporting, and SCS (Student Course Schedule) report, all of which combine information from MS

Dynamics SL (SQL Server based) and internally built databases.

• Designed, developed, deployed, and maintained MS Access Databases that allow users to enter and report

on Human Resources, Student Information, Adult Client Payroll services, Student Incidents, and IT Help Desk

Ticketing.

• Supported Microsoft Dynamics SL (Solomon), which included upgrading Dynamics SL twice. Managed the

security, the databases, database backups, and the printer setups. Worked with vendor on implementing reports

and the upgrades. Extract data from the databases using ODBC connections, SQL Views and Stored Procedures,

ad-hoc queries, and T-SQL.

• Integrated three separate sites into one cohesive Windows AD Domain using SonicWall VPN technology

and setup VPN access to enable employees to work from home and other locations.

• Developed a variety of VBS and .bat files and applied them through Group Policies and converted the

scripts to GPOs (Group Policy Objects) for the users, computers, and network, which includes multi-site drive and

printer mappings, WSUS setup, folder redirection, security, and other computer and user settings applied through

OUs (Organizational Units). Used Powershell for some AD cleanup tasks.

• Developed and documented a variety of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for various IT tasks which

include backups, VPN connections, smartphone setup, WiFi connectivity, and email access, MS Office setup

including MS Access VBA references.

• Maintained a minimum 99% uptime of the network during normal business hours, by actively monitoring,

updating, and maintaining the networks and systems, developed plans and solutions for non-critical issues, and

aggressively resolved critical issues as they arose.

Solectria was an engineering and manufacturing company that designed and built

transportation and energy solutions. Initially joined as a mechanical engineer, and, through

Supervised department of full-time staff, contractors and consultants performing Help Desk support, Software

License Management, Database Development, Database and System Administration and Project Management.

Major responsibilities and accomplishments include:

• Successfully migrated an internally developed ERP system to a commercial ERP system, M2M

(Made2Manage). Managed the selection process, training, conversion, and implementation of the ERP system.

Interconnected the ERP system with other applications that use databases. Functioned as a systems analyst for

the original ERP, the conversion to the commercial ERP, and for the commercial ERP.

• Reduced the company’s cost by initiating alternatives to expensive software solutions through Terminal

Services, system maintenance, negotiating better prices with vendors and purchasing.

• Grew a small, unmanaged network into a robust and fault-tolerant network to support email, operational

databases, ERP applications, and intranet in-house.

• Maintained a minimum 99% uptime of the network during normal business hours, instituted mandatory

maintenance program for hardware and network, designed disaster recovery plan, increased security and reduced

overall costs of systems.

• Instituted an in-house help desk, to log, prioritize and track all support requests, identify problem trends,

and measure departmental performance for on-going improvement to maintain ISO 9001:2000 certification.

• Identified hardware and software tools specific to the needs of departments in support of their core

functions. Performed cost-benefit analysis, negotiated pricing with vendors, presented recommendations to

management, and implemented cost-effective solutions while maximizing organizational productivity.

• Designed, managed the installation of, and setup a network in a new site, which included CAT 5E and

Fiber-Optic cabling, and Cisco and 3Com switches.

engineers.
