Description: America Online is an American global Internet services and

media company. In this project my duties involved working with Business

for final Requirement analysis and working with remote Administrators in

upgrading BO XIR2 to XIR3.1. The system is built using Oracle, SQL

Server, MS Access, Sybase and Teradata. Business Objects and Xcelsius

had been chosen for the reporting against the data warehouse database.

Role mainly involved testing, fixing and documenting of migrated R3.1

reports for 60 different teams.

My Responsibilities Involved:

Migration from BOXIR2 to BOXIR3.1:

. Interacted with Business Users, Business Owners, database team to

know their Business views in developing and modifying Universe and

Reports accordingly.

. Involved in migration from existing BOXIR2 systems to BOXIR3.1 in

all four Environments.

. Created User Defined Objects including Dimensions and Measures for

The project involved developing universes and generating repots to

monitor the sales of the various products as per the region using the

oracle database. Installed and implemented Business Objects enterprise

wide for this leading power utility company and configured the WEBI

servers for optimal performance.

My Responsibilities Involved:

. Involved in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business

requirements, functional requirements and data specifications for

Business Objects Universes and Reports.

. In the Implementation phase, installed Business Objects, created

Repository, administered the Supervisor module for creating users

and user groups and provided security access to users.

. Designed and built Universes according to the user needs, defined

connections and exported universes to the different universe

domains .

. Worked on the Master, Kernel and Component approach during the

linking of universes.

. Exported the universes to the Repository to make resources

available to the users.

. Maintained and did enhancement to existing universes and reports

generated by Business Objects developers.

. Involved in testing Classes, Objects and Connections in Business

Objects.

. Responsible for Resolving Loops using Aliases and Contexts to

remove the cyclic dependencies and also resolved Fan Trap and

Chasm Traps .

. Linked the universes of various functional departments to generate

documents from multiple universes.

. Involved in creating repository and setting up of groups and users

for Business Objects users.

. Created hierarchy and conditions in the universes.

. Created various reports using all types of methods in reporting

technology to represent data on report like (filters, alerter,

breaks, sorts, ranking, master/detail and Drill).

. Involved in translating general reporting requirements into drill-

down/drill-across universe support, and review designs with

business users.

. Created Cross-tab and Master Detail reports in Business Objects.

. Used Broadcast Agent publisher/scheduler for publishing and

distributing the documents.

. Resolved the performance issues in report generation and tuned the

universe for better performance.

. Actively participated in testing and publishing reports to user

community .

. Evaluated reporting environment for performance and efficiency and

presented recommendations to senior management.
