Detailed Job Descriptions

Strike Construction/Lott Contractors

I worked onsite as the lead survey/field engineer. I was responsible for

making sure that the site was constructed per the design location. I laid

out improvements such as the building location, pipe support foundations,

cooling tower foundations, compressor bolt locations, and pipe locations.

I ensured that all improvements were set to the predetermined horizontal

and vertical tolerances as set out in the plans. A large part of my duties

was trouble-shooting discrepancies between the design plans and the

construction of the project. I had to work with the superintendents,

foremen and inspectors to ensure that making a change wouldn't adversely

affect another portion of the project.

LAI Engineering

As survey Department Manager I was responsible for managing and growing all

survey related aspects of the company. The department was started about 6

months prior to my arrival in April 2005. At that time there was one

project manager, one CAD technician and two field crews. Under my

supervision the department grew to two project managers, two project

surveyors, two CAD technicians, one administrative assistant, and four

field crews.

During my tenure at LAI I implemented all the standards and procedures

related to providing the highest quality surveys available. These

procedures include field and office checklists, standards for accurate

field work, drafting and CAD standards, and QA/QC checklists.

My duties also included hiring and evaluating employees in the division,

preparing proposals, overseeing projects and sub-consultant relations, and

preparing financial analysis. I had full responsibility for determining

staff needs and placement within the department. This included hiring,

firing and promoting employees as necessary. I evaluated each prospective

project to determine the scope. During this process I meet with clients to

clarify their survey needs. Once this was determined I provided them with

a detailed contract with the tasks, time frame and fees for the project.

Once we had been awarded a project I assigned it to a project manager. I

was responsible for being in constant contact with them regarding the

project. For most projects I made a site visit to evaluate the work.

During this time both the project manager and I kept the clients updated

with the status of their site. For many projects we utilized sub-

consultants to provide services as requested by the client. These sub-

consultants included utility locators, environmental engineers,

geotechnical engineers, and surveyors in areas outside of our jurisdiction.

I personally evaluated each contract with these consultants to guarantee

that they met our expectations. I analyzed their work to ensure that they

stayed on task. As department manager I was also responsible for the

financial aspects of the department. I evaluated our salaries, expenses

and income to ensure that we ran a profitable department.

Some of the projects I was involved with at LAI included boundary surveys,

design surveys and construction layout surveys. We have provided boundary

surveys for tracts up to 650 acres. I worked directly with my staff to

ensure that we had sufficient research to analyze and determine the

boundary. I make sure the subject property was adequately surveyed along

with the adjoining property. Field work involved diligent recon of each

property corner. Each survey was delivered with detailed information

regarding what we found and what we determined based on that evidence. Our

design surveys consisted of boundary, topographic and utility information.

These sites consisted of large "big box" commercial sites, industrial

complexes and residential subdivisions. Some of the construction sites we

were involved with were hotel sites, industrial sites and large commercial

sites. We have provided layout services for each of these project types

and completed as-built surveys to ensure that they have met the design

criteria.

GeoSurvey, LTD

As a project manager at GeoSurvey, I was responsible for the daily

management of specific projects which included boundary, topographic and

ALTA surveys. I directed field crews and office staff to ensure that the

projects were completed on time and within the budget. I would gather

research on the specific properties and analyze the data before sending a

field crew to the site. I would review their work on a daily basis to make

certain that the data was correct and met the company standards. While

managing Construction Layout projects I would provide all of the

computations to the field crew. For most of these projects I would spend

ample time in the field with the crews to ensure that the sites were laid

according the each site superintendent's specific requirements.

Landmark Surveying, Inc.

I grew up working summers on field crews for the company owned by my father

doing odd jobs such as carrying the stake bag. While attending high school

I worked at Landmark on a co-op basis. I would leave school early and go

to work drafting lot surveys in subdivisions we had designed. After

graduating high school in 1994 I went to work full time as an Instrument

Operator. I continued to learn about correct field procedures and was

quickly promoted to Crew Chief. I worked in this capacity for several

years. During this time I was responsible for courthouse research on my

projects. We did a lot of boundary surveys and I learned a lot about how

to manage a site and how to recon property corners. I utilized our

clients' knowledge of their properties to help them determine their

property bounds. I became familiar with proper GPS techniques and utilized

this tool to help move our company into this field. I continued to work in

the office drafting projects for which I was responsible. After about 4

years in the field I moved to the office as a CAD technician. I drafted

many subdivisions that we designed. They ranged from small two lots sites

to large 300 lot developments. I worked directly with the RLS to analyze

the boundary lines and to learn how to create lots in the best

configuration possible. I quickly moved into a project management role

which involved working directly with the RLS to manage the staff under us.

I also learned how handle client relations during this time.
