Software Engineer

As a feature test engineer responsibilities are testing and automating

layer 2 and layer 3 technologies which include carrier Ethernet, L2VPN and

multicast.

Project : Multicast.

SMU testing :

. Worked on many SMU (Software Maintenance Update). Exposed to lot of

customer scenarios.

. Responsible to verify fixes for issues seen in customer setups and

their fixes. Gained thorough understanding of fixes and developed test

cases to verify them. Worked at a very fast pace to deliver the

features on time.

Feature testing:

. MIB hardening: Responsibilities included building TB, developing test

plans, testing feature, script development and CVS the script. MIBS

worked on are MLD, MGMD, pimExt and ipMroute.

. Per Interface state limit: Feature configures a limit on number of

group memberships/OLE created on an interface. Used MVPN p2mp profile

and brought up the test bed, test plan development, successfully

executing the test cases, reporting the bugs found and verifying them.

. Mentoring a fresh grad and trained her so that she could handle the

projects independently.

. Worked with teams across different BU's over multiple countries to get

the jobs done in a timely manner.

Project : Metro Ethernet and L2VPN - Scripting

Details : They were architectural and CLI level changes. So

enhanced, uplifted and rewritten multiple scripts and verified scripts on

multiple platforms.

. Scripts are developed using TCL and Cisco proprietary APIs.

. Hands on experience with different Cisco OS like IOS, NXOS and IOS-XR.

Some of the platforms include ASR9k, N7K, 7600 etc.

Details : Telstra's customer network is spread across 6 states and

Tellabs's multiservice routers are placed on all these states and they are

used for various purposes. One of the Telstra node type 2 performs ATM, FR,

VLAN and VPLS multiservice aggregation. One of the other Telstra type 3

node is used for transport of traffic between legacy ATM/PNNI systems over

an MPLS core network.

. The testing includes feature, performance, scalability and system

testing.

. Project lead and responsible for many features included in the network

setup like VPLS, Multicast QOS, FR-ATM IWF and ATM-Eth IWF, RSTP

instances, LDPoRSVP and RSVP LSPs, VLAN single and multiclass PWE3s,

ATM APS, Redundant PWE3, IP and MAC ACLs, MAC learning, LDP FEC

filtering, LAG, BFD sessions, 802.3ah and 802.1ag based loop detection

sessions. Followed ECMP strategy to route all the packets.

. Deriving test plan and test strategy from many CRDs and FRDs. Get in

touch base with systems engineers and or sometimes with the customer

directly to simulate the network as close as possible with their

network.
