Project: ClaimSphere
Nov 2005 - Feb 2006
Role : Programmer Analyst
ClaimSphere - Cognizant's end-to-end Enterprise Reporting Solution,
collates data from various information sources of MCO, and generates
reports to operational and analytical requirements. Thus, ClaimSphere
integrates data across Lines of Businesses & across applications to offer
reports in the areas of Claims, Member-Subscriber, Provider, Billing,
Commission and Utilization Management.
ClaimSphere consists of an Operational Data Store, a Data-
Warehouse/Analytical Data Store, a set of commonly used Canned Reports, KPI
Dashboards for top management use, Analytics derived from analyzing the
enterprise data on multiple dimensions, and ETL loads.
Operational Data Store and Analytical Data Store
. A key feature of the ClaimSphere is storing of operational data in
De-normalized Operational Data Store (ODS) and analytical data in
multi-dimensional Analytical Data Store (ADS) for analytical and ad-
hoc reporting.
. Design of data stores was based on analysis of various parameters
such as volume, performance and complexity of calculation involved
in the Reports. This rigorous approach to data model design
translates into tremendous benefits for ClaimSphere customers in
terms of enhanced performance through fast and efficient report
generation.
. The Operational Data Store is designed to contain all data that is
required to analyze and report upon for operational activities.
Extracts from the production system database (or its replica) are
loaded into the Operational Data Store (ODS). The ODS thus contains
current data and minimum history.
. ClaimSphere documentation includes the physical as well as the
logical data model, attribute descriptions so that the clients can
easily extend and expand their reporting systems when required for
developing new reports to address evolving business requirements.
. ClaimSphere includes a set of over hundred commonly used operational
and analytical reports. Apart from reports, ClaimSphere also has Key
Performance Indicators that can be tracked using dashboards of
reporting tool. The range of the reports includes areas such as
provider affairs, claims processing efficiency, group/member
affairs, utilization management etc. These reports would address a
large part of the reporting requirements of any health plan.
Moreover, the reports would require minimal customization, if at
all, to match the specific requirements of a health plan that
chooses to implement the solution.
Responsibility
. Developing a standard report template.
. Creating Complex List reports, Cross Tab reports and Charts.
. Creating the KPI reports
