Was involved in the setup and execution of easy to intermediate level
experiments similar to those performed in a true organic laboratory, this
included using techniques such as separations, extractions, distillation
and fermentation. Data analysis techniques including but not limited to
thin layer chromatography, as well as Carbon and Hydrogen Nuclear Magnetic
Resonance were also learned.
Foister Group

Worked as part of the Foister group at the University of Tennessee as a
student laboratory assistant. The group focused on biochemical approaches
to degenerative brain disease cures and or treatments. As a student
assistant, participated in Alzheimer's research that included running
biological assays in order to test possible inhibitors. Other skills
learned included a more in depth use of data analysis tools such as Mass
spectrometers, MALDI- spectrometry and IR.

for Anheuser-Busch at bars, clubs, or festivals. My duties included running

Received and invitation for academic excellence to exchange ideas, and
cultural experiences with other potential medical school students studying
in South Africa. The delegation included shadowing with doctors at local
hospitals, and meet and great with South African students, as well as
various volunteer outings.
