. Thermopylae: a battlefield study (Winter 2006)-I did a
cultural analysis of the Ancient Greeks and Persians
involved in the battle. I evaluated how the cultures of
the two sides affected the actions and outcome of the
battle.
Field School- St. Louis Archaeology, Inc.
o Summer 2002-Late 19th century house with possible
slavery links.
o Summer 2003-1920's house in a working class
neighborhood.
Archaeology Projects-
. Centre for Battlefield Archaeology-During these three
excavations, I helped in organizing and working with a team
of local volunteer metal detectorists for conducting a
metal detector survey. I also participated in the
excavational search for a house related to the battle of
Prestonpans.
o Prestonpans x 3
. Glasgow University Archaeology Department-On this project I
gained first hand experience at setting up a grid for and
using electroresistivity survey.
o Hillfort in East Scotland
. Glasgow University Archaeology Department-Lab Technician-
November 2009-This project was for PhD student Natasha
Ferguson and involved the cataloguing of battlefield
artifacts from two separate battlefields, particularly
Tywardreath for a database.
Internship-Cataloguing of ceramic finds.

o I helped in the digital refining, cropping and
labeling of a few hundred artifacts drawings.
Professional Experience
. Illinois State Archaeological Survey-Field Tech-Phase III
Excavation-March-June 2010-A prehistoric Mississippian
settlement related to Cahokia. It added to my
archaeological experience by teaching me profile and plan
mapping and introduced me to prehistoric ceramics and
lithics.
. Northern Land Use Research, Inc.-Crew Chief-Phase I & II
Survey-June 2010-September 2010-Survey along a 320 mile
pipeline across Southern Alaska. Training for this project
included using Trimble, and also had me coordinate with
helicopters, and run and ensure the safety of a crew out in
the wilderness of Alaska.

o At the presentation, I aided in presenting the
background of the Lemp site at the annual
presentation at the Missouri History Museum.
. Undergraduate Research Symposium-April 2007-Thermopylae: a
Battlefield Study
o This was a presentation of the aforementioned paper.
. Undergraduate Research Symposium-April 2008-Culture Clash
at Thermopylae
o This was a presentation of a poster on my research of
the battle of Thermopylae and how the Persian and
Greek cultures affected the actions during, and
ultimate outcome, of the battle.
. Undergraduate Research Day at the Capital-April 2008-
Culture Clash at Thermopylae
o I was chosen among other University of Missouri
undergraduate students to present their research in
poster form at the state capital.
Other Work-
. University of Missouri-St. Louis Library-At the library I
worked at the front circulation desk, checking books out
and helping patrons when needed. I would also help the
supervisors occasionally. At one point, this included
supervising a volunteer when the immediate supervisor was
absent. Starting in May 2007 I also began working as a
shelver where I would reshelve books. During that job, I
became quite adept at finding books on our shelves that
were in the wrong section of the library or belonged to
other libraries. In the end, I found nearly 1,000
misplaced books.
o August 2006-January 2008
. St. Louis Mercantile Library-I work for the curator of the
John W. Barriger III National Railroad Library on putting
together a book on railroad crossings.
o February 2008-September 2008
. Dr. Maury Klein-Research Assistant-I aided in the doctor's
research in finding and copying off articles about the
Union Pacific railroad and mail them to him.
o April 2008-September 2008
Volunteer Work-
. Saint Louis Science Center-I was a volunteer in the
Discovery Room, the area for 3-8 year olds. There I would
work with the children and facilitate their learning while
they played. However, I would also work on the general
floor and aid in special events when needed. I volunteered
at the St. Louis Science Center for approximately 6 years.
