Experience:
Engineering Officer of the Watch: (1995-2010) Served on board USS
Rentz FFG-46, USS Cowpens CG-50, USS Mobile Bay and USS Howard DDG-83.
Supervise a 30 man division with full responsibility concerning all
propulsion plant operation and maintenance activities.
Responsibilities include operation, corrective and preventive
maintenance of four LM 2500 Gas Turbine Main Propulsion Engines and
three Allison 501K17/K34 Gas Turbine Generators and major support
systems which includes Lube Oil, Fuel Oil pumps and machinery.
Senior Engineering Propulsion Coordinator: (2001-2010) Administers,
manages and evaluates shipboard programs. Evaluates operating
conditions and makes recommendation to the Engineering Officer.
Develops and trains watch teams and in preparation for ships training
cycle and engineering inspections while continuing to boost morale and
a promoting A Positive Can Do Attitude In Completing All Assigned
Tasking. During Ship Availabilities leads and performs Independent
Quality Control Audits and Surveillances.
Landing Craft Air Cushion Maintenance and Production Chief: (2005-
2009) Planned and coordinated all work packages on TF40B Gas Turbine
Engines including associated APU's of Eight Landing Craft Air Cushion
which included corrosion control inspections, preventive and
corrective maintenance of gear boxes, transmissions, propellers, bow
thrusters and rudders.
Chief Petty Officer Gas Turbine Technician (1999-2010): Supervised the
maintenance, operation and repair of all mechanical, propulsion and
auxiliary equipment; prepares and maintains quarterly schedules,
summaries and performance logs; estimates time and materials necessary
for repair of gas turbine control and auxiliary systems: analyzes
discrepancy trends, determines deficiencies and develops inspection
and corrective procedures; inspect installation, alteration and repair
of both electrical and mechanical components and support systems by
off ship personnel.
Propulsion and Auxiliary Control Console Operator (1997-2010):
Responsible for the correct operation and implementation of
engineering operation procedures and casualty control actions of four
LM2500 Gas Turbine Main Propulsion Engines on all former and current
twin-screw ship platforms (DD-963,CG-47 and DDG-51 class ships).
Gas Turbine Shop 31-T Intermediate Maintenance Activity
Qualifications: (1993-1996)
Team Leader Qualified on the following LM2500 repairs: VSV arm master
rig; Opening and Closing of Power Turbine Section to include
Inspection and 6th Stage Vane Segment Replacement; Opening and Closing
of Gas Generator Compressor Case to include 1st Stage Compressor Rotor
Blade Replacement; Removal and Replacement of Gas Generator to
include Separation of Gas Generator at Turbine Mid Frame, Compressor
Rear Frame and at Power Turbine. Additional Team Leader
Qualifications include Removal and Replacement of Allison 501K17 Gas
Turbine Generators as well as in-place repairs and/or removal of Power
Takeoff Assemblies and Combustor Liners.
Gas Turbine Mechanical (1987-2010): Responsible for performing all
planned and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting procedures on
the Engineering Plant Control and Surveillance Systems, LM2500 Gas
Turbine Engines, Allison 501K17/K34 Gas Turbine Generators, and Waste
Heat Boiler systems thru the use of special engineering tools like the
multi meters (fluke) for common electrical testing as well as
mechanical instruments like torque wrenches, depth gage, micrometers
and dial indicators just to name a few.
